Elmwood Cemetery will again be among the more than 5,200 locations nationwide participating in Wreaths Across America December 13th. At 11:00 a.m. that day, wreaths will be placed on the graves of veterans at participating cemeteries across the country.

The ceremony at Elmwood Cemetery is sponsored by the Nathan G. Gordon American Legion Post 39, which is raising funds to place wreaths on the graves of all 600-plus veterans who are buried there. Post Commander Jerry Ashby says members are seeking sponsors from the community to help cover the cost of the wreaths.

"We need additional sponsorships to meet our goal for full coverage at Elmwood Cemetery for all the veterans there," Ashby said. "I want to encourage you to please help if you can. These wreaths are $17. It is tax-deductible and we will accept contributions of any amount."

In order to get the wreaths purchased in time for the December 13th ceremony, the sponsorship deadline is November 28th. Contact Jerry Ashby at 501-940-7124 to place an order, or use the QR code below:

We finally got the mowing done today! There are a few spots that were not w**d eater trimmed, but by the next mowing in 2 weeks, we will have it back to normal! Thanks to all who helped, the new mowing contractor, and most importantly, to everyone for your patience! Please come out tomorrow between 10 and 2, meet the Board, and ask any questions you may have. We will do our best to answer them

Thank you again,
Earle

We are currently running behind on our mowing schedule for the Cemetery due to medical issues with our contractor. He has assured us that he will have the Cemetery mowed by the end of next week. We apologize for the delays in making your Cemetery look nice again.

Today, I mowed a portion of the Cemetery in order to assist the contractors. There was no method to the random areas that were mowed. Just where the mower took me!

Again, we apologize and hope you can understand. We will be back on track very soon!
