WHAT’S the Value IN A NAME?
HLC September 6th 2026

Philippians 2:9–11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow... And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”

What’s in a name?
More than we sometimes realize.
• Your name identifies you. When somebody calls your name in a crowded room, you turn your head because that name belongs to you.
• A name can carry a reputation. Mention certain family names in a community and people immediately associate them with something.
• A name can remind you of kindness, integrity, hard work, generosity; or unfortunately, the opposite.
• A signature can authorize a check.
• A name on a deed establishes ownership.
• A name on a contract carries responsibility. A name on a uniform identifies who someone represents.

But there is one name unlike every other name! JESUS!
His name doesn't merely identify Him.
• His name carries authority.
• His name brings salvation.
• His name gives hope.
• His name brings forgiveness.
• His name drives back darkness.His name gives us access to God.
• His name brings healing to broken lives.
Philippians 2:9 says God gave Jesus: “a name which is above every name.”
• Not beside every name.
• Not equal with every name.

ABOVE EVERY NAME!

"Knocked Down BUT Not Knocked Out" today at 10am with Pastor Michael Sanders ministering.

There are moments in life when you feel strong, confident, and certain about where you are going.
• Your faith is strong.
• Your family seems good.
• Your plans are working.
• You feel like you are walking on level ground.
And then suddenly…you fall!
• Sometimes we fall because we make a bad decision.
• Sometimes we fall because temptation gets the best of us.
• Sometimes we fall because someone hurts us.
• Sometimes circumstances knock us down through no fault of our own.

Then the enemy begins whispering:
• “You've messed up too many times.”
• “You'll never change.”
• “God is finished with you.”
• “Why even try again?”
But Proverbs 24:16 gives us one of the greatest descriptions of perseverance in the Bible: “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.”

Today at 10am with Pastor Michael Sanders ministering!

In Psalm 42 the psalmist was not standing on a mountaintop celebrating victory.
He was walking through a valley of discouragement.
He said: “My tears have been my meat day and night…”
In other words, I have cried until I don't know if I have any tears left!
Yet right in the middle of his pain, something rises up inside him. He begins preaching to himself:
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul?… Hope thou in God.”
He did not say, “Hope in your circumstances!”
He did not say, “Hope in people!”
He did not say, “Hope in the economy!”
He did not say, “Hope in your own strength!”
He said: HOPE THOU IN GOD!
Church, that message is just as powerful today as it was when the psalmist wrote it.
There is still a Fountain of Hope; and His name is Jesus!

"Facing a Lion in a Cold Pit" Sunday 10am

Sometimes life puts us in our own lion, pit, and snowy-day moments.

A lion represents something intimidating; something that makes you question whether you have what it takes.
• Your lion may be a financial struggle.
• Your lion may be a broken relationship.
• Your lion may be uncertainty about tomorrow.
• Your lion may be a difficult decision.
• Your lion may be discouragement that follows you home every evening.
• Your lion may be something God has called you to do that scares you because you don't believe you are qualified.
Whatever it is, there are moments when the lion stands in front of us and everything inside us wants to run!
But sometimes the greatest victories of our lives are waiting on the other side of the things we are most afraid to face.

"When God Changes Your Song, He Changes Your Story" Sunday 10am

There are seasons in life when it feels like we have been singing the same song for far too long.
• The song of disappointment.
• The song of regret.
• The song of “Why me?”
• The song of “What if?”
• The song of “I can’t.”
• The song of “Nothing is ever going to change.”
Sometimes we have sung that song so long that we know every word by heart.
• We wake up singing it.
• We carry it to work.
• We bring it home.
• We take it to church.
• We may even sit in the pew singing songs of praise with our lips while an entirely different song is playing in our hearts.

But David makes a powerful declaration in Psalm 40:3
“And he hath put a new song in my mouth.”

“Finding God’s Favor Through Restoration “ today at 10am

When we humble ourselves before Him, repent with a sincere heart, and trust His promises, He begins the work of restoring what has been broken within us.

No matter how wounded your spirit may be, God is able to renew your strength, restore your joy, and revive your purpose. His favor brings healing where there has been pain, peace where there has been turmoil, and hope where there has been despair.

So today, choose to seek His presence above all else. Let His Word renew your mind, His Spirit refresh your soul, and His love transform your heart.

As you walk in obedience and faith, God’s favor will surround you, and your spirit will experience complete restoration.

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:3)

Find His favor and you will find your joy!

There are moments in every believer's life when the journey becomes so difficult that our hands begin to hang down and our knees begin to tremble.
We don't stop believing in God; we simply become weary.
• The burdens become heavier than we expected,
• the prayers seem unanswered,
• and the road ahead appears longer than we imagined.
It is to believers in this very condition that the writer of Hebrews speaks these powerful words:
"Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees."
Notice that God does not deny that our hands are hanging down.
He does not pretend our knees are not weak.
Instead, He gives a command: Lift them up!
God acknowledges our weakness, but He refuses to let weakness have the final word!
You may be Weary, But You are Not Defeated!

"A Life-Changing Encounter with Jesus Christ" Sunday 10am

Nobody gets into heaven on someone else's faith.
You cannot inherit salvation.
Every person must personally come to Christ.

Acts 2:38 Repent, be baptized, EVERYONE OF YOU, in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost!

God has no grandchildren.
Only sons and daughters.

Every generation must experience the new birth.

A Changed Life Is the Greatest Testimony!

One of the greatest evidences of being born again is a transformed life.
*A thief stops stealing.
*A liar becomes truthful.
*A hateful person begins forgiving.
*A selfish person becomes generous.
*An addict discovers freedom.

Not because they became stronger...
But because Christ became Lord.

The Gospel does not merely improve behavior.
It transforms identity!
