January 31, 2025 - CECC “God Nugget”: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)

Today’s verse comes from www.biblegateway.com and I couldn’t think of a better way to close out the nugget series. Ephesians 4:2 embodies a full notion of what it means to live out the Christian life. These qualities of being humble, gentle, patient, and loving capture the minimum set of Christianity’s essential virtues while challenging believers to live in a manner worthy of their calling. Which includes putting others’ needs above our own and responding with grace in the face of challenging situations. All of which “highlights the importance of maintaining unity and peace within the body of Christ, calling Christians to reflect the character of Christ in their daily interactions. Through humility, gentleness, and patience, the Christian life is portrayed as one of ongoing transformation, where believers actively seek to build one another up in love and unity, demonstrating the heart of the gospel in both attitude and action.” - OpenAI. (2024). A powerful picture of the Christiam life indeed. So today, keep these virtues in mind as you navigate your day and…be humble in Christ, gentle, always patient, and most importantly, be loving in your treatment of others.

It has been a privilege to write these nuggets. And in the true spirit of today’s verse, all the readers of these nuggets have certainly embodied the virtues of Ephesians 4:2 with your kindness and sincerity over the past few years. I can’t thank you all enough for your support and encouragement. And of course, I need to extend a huge thank you to Meredith who has proofread, contributed to, and posted each nugget written. Lastly, thank you to Pastor Tanner for continuing to support the nugget, and to Chris R. for his many contributions, support, re-posting and authoring many of the nuggets as well. God bless.

January 30, 2025 - CECC “God Nugget” (Part 1): Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, -- A Time for Everything --

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

January 30, 2025 - CECC “God Nugget”
(Part 2)

It is clear to me that God has designed seasons into many aspects of our lives. A natural progression of starts and finishes leading to both new challenges and growth. The author C.S. Lewis often referred to it as the undulations of life. From days to weeks; to months; to seasons; to years; we have the close of one time marking the start or beginning of a different one. And the beauty of each transition is that there is something new on the other side. We could never have a sun rise without first having the darkness of a sunset. Indeed, there is “a time for everything”. And as such, Pastor Tanner and I have been thinking about the future for this ministry of typing the nugget. Originated by Pastor David, the “God Nugget” has been sent out with multiple contributors for over three years. And after evaluating the original purpose and peering into the future we have come to the point where it is now time to allow the nugget to have its own sunset. Partially because it has served its place for when the church needed it (during COVID) and additionally because we eagerly look forward to what God will start up next. So tomorrow will be the last nugget. Maybe this will be a pause if another contributor comes along, but if not, we will be earnestly praying for God to reveal His next mission for us. So today, pray over the verses of Ecclesiastes 3 and remember that every good beginning is the transition after something else has ended.

January 29, 2025 - CECC “God Nugget”: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

“We are One in The Spirit, - We are One in The Lord. - We are One in The Spirit, - We are One in The Lord. - And we pray that all unity may one day be restored.

{Chorus} And they'll know we are Christians by our love, - By our Love, - Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love.

We will work with each other, - We will work side by side. - We will work with each other, - We will work side by side. - And we'll guard each man's dignity - And save each man's pride.

Chorus

We will work with each other, - We will work side by side. - We will work with each other, - We will work side by side. - And we'll guard each man's dignity - And save each man's pride.

Chorus

We will walk with each other, - We will walk hand in hand. - We will walk with each other, - We will walk hand in hand. - And together we'll spread the News - that God is in our land.” - We are One in The Spirit, copyright 1966 Peter Scholte, F.E.L. January 28, 2025 - CECC “God Nugget”: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-13)

The message of today’s verses is clear; there is only one true and all-powerful God in Heaven, but it is equally true that there are other evil spiritual forces at work here in our world today. This is not something we like to think about, however ignoring this truth is exactly the subtle win Satan hopes for. Which is why Paul preaches the truth with all the passion that he has for Christ. Brutally honest at times, he shares his commitment to spreading the gospel along with his own trials and tribulations that he battles. From one verse to the next, Paul confirms the contentment he finds in simply following God’s calling while also recognizing the struggles of living in this fallen world. And as such, Paul doesn’t hold back on the realities of spiritual warfare. Noting that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood,” meaning a human fight, but “against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Arguing that our specific enemy is against Satan himself and all the “devil’s schemes.” Satan is completely devoted to the destruction of God’s people, leaving our only hope to be equally devoted to the one power that can and has stopped him already – Jesus. Today, know the truth that Jesus has won the battle – but also understand that the fight for our eternity rages on in the spiritual realms until that glorious day of Jesus’ return.
