Our own knitwit, Frances Whisnant, recently had a serious cardiac event was hospitalized. She is now at Grace Heights recovering and doing rehab. A week ago she finally felt well enough to crochet again. She made this beautiful prayer shawl in one week and went to the church service at Grace Heights yesterday where several members of Oak Hill prayed over the shawl. Frances then gave the shawl to her roommate, Joyce “Jo Jo” Carroll. Jo Jo is going thru rehab for a knee replacement and a broken foot. Even in her own illness and recovery Frances is using her needles to bless others and to continue her ministry by making prayer shawls. Please lift both of these precious ladies up in prayers for healing.

“Why do I do it? It just makes me feel good,” Morrie Boogart said when asked why he spends his days knitting hats for the homeless. Morrie is a terminally ill patient at the Cambridge Manor hospice care facility in Michigan, and rather than focusing on his life ending, he chooses to focus on hel...

Our very own knitwit, Frances Whisnant, was the recipient of this shawl made for her by Mary Speagle. Frances, who is a breast cancer survivor, had to recently go for another biopsy. The results were not what we had hope to hear but we know the Lord has his hand on the situation and will guide Frances through her treatment plans. She will meet with her doctors soon to set this plan in action. Please join us in prayers for Frances...for healing, strength, peace of mind, and also, for guidance for her doctors in deciding on a course of treatment for her. May she feel our prayers and the touch of God as she uses her beautiful shawl.

Betsy Scott is pictured with Frances Whisnant, who made this prayer shawl for Betsy and Jim's son-in-law, Keith Baker. Keith is battling cancer. His wife, Cathryn, sent this message to Betsy upon receiving the shawl: "And mom, the prayer shawl is absolutely beautiful! The beauty of the timing of when we received it was very powerful...we had had a really rough, long day. The chemo treatment was hard, the drive home was hard, the whole evening and night was hard, hard, hard! God's grace was sufficient and the healing we needed was your gift. That beautiful prayer shawl was God's Love in physical form. It was exactly what we needed! Keith received a healing touch of God's Grace and Love! He has been wearing it across his shoulders when he is walking around the house or sitting in his chair.. like a robe. Thank you and Dad and all those who gave their talents and prayers in giving this gift to Keith!" The KnitWits, especially Frances, and the OHUMC congregation will continue to lift Keith and Cathryn up in our prayers.

Coming up this Saturday! Help spread the word. Come stock up on some yarn at great prices! There is a HUGE selection of yarn of all types to choose from, and also many colors of mesh and supplies for wreath making. Proceeds go to the family of Kau Xiong, who was a good friend to several of our Oak Hill Knit Wits, and actually made a couple prayer shawls, scarves and hats for needy on behalf of our group. Kau passed away on January 10, 2018 as she was going to work traveling I-40, and was forced off the interstate by a transfer truck. She left behind 5 children, the youngest being 2 1/2 years old.
