Remember those photos in the News Herald of the nicely stocked Glen Alpine food pantry? That was less than a month ago, and this is what the shelves look like at the close of business this afternoon. The food pantry is in urgent need of many, many items. As you can see, there are several cans of corn and several cans of green beans available. Things that are most in need: boxed macaroni and cheese, canned meats such as tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages, spam, weenies and beans. Any and all vegetables in cans, any and all fruits in cans, boxed breakfast cereals, oatmeal and grits, peanut butter, jelly, soups. A note about item sizes: remember, although a larger size can or jar may be more economical, several smaller quantities will serve more household. For instance, a five-lb. bag of flour can be given to only one household. Five 1-pound bags of flour can serve five households.

Well worth the read for anyone struggling in their marriage. I think there's a reason why all the questions in a marriage ceremony are not about one's feelings but about one's volition, "Will you..., Will you..., Will you...".

Couples should focus on the godly act of behaving in love rather than the fleeting feeling of being in love.
