We are motivated to nurture, educate, create, and support diverse multicultural beloved communities where all people feel welcome and can thrive. American has more people in jail, prison, and juvenile correctional facilities than any other country in the world. There is a lot of work to do to make America more loving and nurturing. Help the hurting. Embrace those who are sad. Listen to the angry voices. Demonstrate peace where you find it. Share. Forgive.

When Governor Abbott ordered rainbow crosswalks removed from Texas streets, Oaklawn United Methodist Church in Dallas, responded by painting its front steps as a rainbow. The message is clear: you can order a rainbow removed from a public street, but you can't erase the people, community and message of inclusion that it represents.

UPCOMING EVENTS AT Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Bell County

September 13 - Sunday - 10am - ALIVE PRACTICE & PROJECT LIFE - CPR & AED INFO
A guest speaker will present information about the use of CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). An AED is now being kept onsite at the UU Fellowship Building.

September 13 - Sunday - 11:30am - MEDITATION
An open group opportunity to participate in meditation. No experience necessary. Enlightenment may occur.

September 19 - Saturday - Noon to 2pm - CRAFTER'S CORNER
This group generally meets on the third Saturday of the month at the Fellowship Building. Bring your current project or simply come to enjoy community, conversation, and shared creativitiy in a welcoming space. All skill levels and crafts are welcome. UU relationships begin and grow here.

September 20 - Sunday - 10am - ANIMAL WELFARE
A presentation/discussion led by Sharon Glockzin exploring our relationship with animals who share our lives and our world. Compassion, responsibility and values that guide us in the care and well-being of animals. Everyone is welcome to be present and participate. (No animal guests please, unless they are a genuine friend that normally accompanies you in a supportive role in public settings.)

September 26 - Saturday - 10am-Noon - UU Book Club discussion of Theo of Golden by Allen Levi
The group discusses Allen Levi's novel about kindness, connection, and the unexpected ways one person can touch a community. We do not anticipate that Allen Levin will be present. However, this book group is open to anyone attending, whether you have read the book or not. You will feel included and discover that you have comments to add or questions to ask. UU relationships begin and grow here.

September 26 - Saturday - 10am - 3pm - BLOOD DRIVE - at UU of Bell County Building
Anyone who wishes to donate can sign up here to donate blood. You are welcome to observe even if you do not wish to give. The Red Cross staff are very professional and kind. The act of giving is generally completed in a half hour to 45 minutes, leaving you with the knowledge that your blood may be used to save a life. You will get a free cold drink and a small snack. You will walk away with a small bandage that remains on your arm an hour or so.

September 26 - Saturday - 6pm - Movie Night at UU of Bell County
FREE Movie is The Father, starring Anthony Hopkins. After we watch the movie, we discuss it. An appreciation for art can happen spontaneously when shared.

State Rep. James Talarico, who is running on the Democratic ticket for a U.S. Senate seat against Republican Ken Paxton, will be holding a rally Friday at Central Texas Theatre

Awareness of any representation is good awareness.

State Rep. James Talarico, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be in Killeen on Aug. 14 for a campaign event, according to multiple social media posts.

One post, on Talarico’s page, says that the event is 7 to 9 p.m., however, there are no details yet on where the location would be. The post simply says that the location is to be announced.

As we move through the month of July, we want to ask our community for a little grace.

Many of you may have noticed we've been quieter than usual and haven't been as consistent with posting reminders or promoting our community events. July is a tender month for us as it marks the anniversary of when we first found our beloved Sister Divine and sat beside her in her final weeks. Grief is a funny thing. It doesn't follow a schedule, and even after time has passed, it has a way of showing up when we least expect it.

Like so many of you, we're still learning how to carry that loss while continuing the work they helped build. Some days are easier than others.

Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for continuing to show up for one another as we find our footing and return to our regular programming. This community has always been built on love, compassion, and taking care of each other. We appreciate you extending that same kindness to us.
