The Way Of Right Living
People often talk about wanting to live right. Generally focusing on bodily health or financial health. When you consider the idea of living right, it is important to consider the purpose for such a pursuit. The pursuit of a health based right living will only be temporary with little to no reliable rewards or benefits.
“The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool. Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 2:14-19 KJV)
Since nothing of this world, whether wealth, health, plans, or relationships, will continue to benefit you past your day of death, which cannot be avoided, it is wiser to purse a way of life that will actually have true and enduring benefit for you, your family, and your friends.
“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:24-29 KJV)
Moses is an example for all of us. He had access to the wealth of the riches and strongest nations in the world but know that such wealth would be fleeting. Instead, Moses chose to pursue after the true riches that endure into everlasting life. The faith in Christ that Moses had was not mere words or claims because he chose to live out his faith by pursuing after and living according to the word and Spirit of God rather than after those temporary rewards of life.
