The Way Of Right Living

People often talk about wanting to live right. Generally focusing on bodily health or financial health. When you consider the idea of living right, it is important to consider the purpose for such a pursuit. The pursuit of a health based right living will only be temporary with little to no reliable rewards or benefits.

“The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool. Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 2:14-19 KJV)

Since nothing of this world, whether wealth, health, plans, or relationships, will continue to benefit you past your day of death, which cannot be avoided, it is wiser to purse a way of life that will actually have true and enduring benefit for you, your family, and your friends.

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:24-29 KJV)

Moses is an example for all of us. He had access to the wealth of the riches and strongest nations in the world but know that such wealth would be fleeting. Instead, Moses chose to pursue after the true riches that endure into everlasting life. The faith in Christ that Moses had was not mere words or claims because he chose to live out his faith by pursuing after and living according to the word and Spirit of God rather than after those temporary rewards of life.

Knowing Who To Trust

Everyone learns to trust others for information, news, and truth of events, people, and places. Some people trust the news station on TV or radio. Some trust their friends on social media. Some trust podcasts. When you truly think about trust and the source of information you are willing to believe, it can be difficult to come to know who to trust, especially because of the warnings from scripture.

“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.” (Psalm 118:8-9 KJV)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 KJV)

Since you cannot generally trust people to be honest and truthful, finding good information can be difficult but it does need to be found.

“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:19-22 KJV)

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1 KJV)

Who to trust in this world largely depends on time and experience. When you find people who tend to communicate what can be demonstrated to be true, tend to be sources you can trust. You are called on to test the spirit of the message and messenger by evaluating how the message first compares to the scriptures and what can already be known. Beware of outlandish or spectacular claims that speak incredible words but do not direct you to more information and especially original sources such as fuller audio, fuller video, or fuller transcripts regarding the information being presented. It is very easy to claim someone of “importance” said something, but it is entirely different to prove it and prove it in context. Too many people take comments out of context which can totally change the meaning of the message.

Vote Biblical Principles

Every few years in the United States, the citizens are called on to choose its governmental leaders as well as decide on a few laws and issues of public policy. In every election, we always have the option of not voting, yielding to the utterly godless to decide policy, or of voting and at least trying to encourage public policy in the direction of godliness and moral uprightness. While there will never be a perfect candidate for public office, Jesus is already King of kings and Lord of lords, there is generally a candidate that tries to do what is right before God, even if that candidate has his own character issues. We do have the option of putting godly principles concerning the issues over some character flaws.

“Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Matthew 12:33-37 KJV)

You are never held accountable for the decisions that others make, only the decisions that you make. Since you will be held accountable for the decisions that you make, it is in your best interest to make the best decisions that you can with the options that are available before you. Sometimes, you do not have an actual “good” option in the eyes of the Lord, so you make the best possible decision that you can. Every human being is deceitful and wicked to one degree or another before man and God, seek out leaders who are at least not pursuing the worst of human policies. The Bible gives advice and counsel on many issues of the day, welfare, taxes, marriage, gender/sexuality, abortion, elder care, business and work ethics, foreign relations, and many other issues. It is best to seek all the counsel of God and align your public policy with God’s personal policy as much as you can.

“He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ” (Ephesians 4:10-15 KJV)

Because we have the Word of God to guide our hearts and minds, we need to submit to it and not to the attempted manipulations by the corruptness of man.

Some People To Reject

There are those among us that call for the Christian to accept, endorse, and support whoever may come into our presence. Paul explains that there are some people that you should never support or help.

“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. (Tit 3:8-11 KJV).” (Titus 3:8-11 KJV)

We are called on to affirm and encourage those who believe in God are are careful to do and continue doing good works. But those who engage with foolish questions and focus on things like ancestry and seek to cause contentions and strife are unprofitable and empty and worthless. Such individuals are among those who are heretics and are to be admonished or corrected but as they choose to persevere in heretical works, they are to be rejected because he refuses to repent from his sin and is pursuing a path of condemning himself before man and God.

Our engagement with others are to be consistent and direct and without compromising on the truth of God. There is no room nor justification for compromising on God’s truth because their eternity and yours are on the line.

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works” (Hebrews 10:22-24 KJV)

“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.” (Ezekiel 3:17-19 KJV)

We are called by Christ to be God’s watchman, warning men everywhere to recognize their sinfulness and repent through faith in Jesus or meet Jesus as judge who condemns for all eternity.

Life Is About Jesus

People are constantly looking to find their life purpose. Even from the beginning of time, God has explained your purpose for your life.

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28 KJV)

Although man already had and knew his purpose, to live life serving God and abiding by the will and character of God, man soon decide to choose his own path rather than the perfect path that God designed for him.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8 KJV)

What is needed in life is more than just ceasing from doing what you personally think is right while discovering that it is evil in the sight of God. You even need more than simply doing what God declares as good or evil according to God’s law. You need to have the defilement of God’s character removed from you for all eternity AND you need the perfect character of God in order to stand before God and to be accepted by Him into His presence.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” (Romans 3:19-24 KJV)

What you need, Jesus has provided so that through true and unwavering faith in Jesus, you can be in possession of the true and perfect rightness of God and have life. With that life, you are powered by the Holy Spirit to live according to the Spirit of God.

A Time To Start Afresh

There are two times of people who will say that they have placed their faith in Jesus. There are those who only have the profession of faith but do not live by the faith that they claim. Then there are those who will actually do the will of God and serve Him.

“But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.” (Matthew 21:28-32 KJV)

It was the religionists who just talked about their faith and their religion but did not love God nor seek to actually do according to His purpose. But those who truly understood the call of Christ actually pursued a life of humble obedience to the will and commands of God. For those who only have an external relationship with Christ, there is still an opportunity to change. You can confess your sins to God. Not just your sins of commission – lying, hatred, perverse thoughts, but also your sins of omission – prayer, study, fellowship, doctrine).

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” (James 4:4-10 KJV)

Now is the time to turn from what is normal and natural for you and do those things that will please God and build up the faith of yourself and those around you. Each one who truly serves Christ is part of the body of Christ and is called on to strengthen and grow the body of Christ even as Christ empowers you to do so.

It Is About the Grace Of God

People have many different views of what it means to be a Christian and what message the Christians ought to be spreading. Some think that Christians ought to only speak about love because God is love. Others think that Christians ought to encourage others in that person’s interests and desires, regardless of what they are.

“Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever: That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.” (Isaiah 30:8-11 KJV)

Even from the days of Isaiah, and David, and Moses, and Noah, the people who were supposed to submit to God did not want to thear the words of God that would expose the greatness of their own sins. Instead, the people insisted upon hearing only those words that encouraged them in the way that they wanted to go or were already going. But the most necessary words are the words of grace that helps us remember that we all deserve judgment, condemnation, and the wrath of God. But instead, there is grace available through faith in Jesus.

“For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.” (Romans 4:13-18 KJV)

The only way to be right with God is through faith in Jesus. The only way to obtain that saving faith is by the grace of God who alone which works in your heart and mind to bring you to Jesus and entrust yourself to Him, His work, and His forgiveness.

Your Way Is The Cursed Way

It is natural for people to not only consider themselves to be truly good, but to also consider any alternative way of thinking and living as truly evil. Unfortunately for people, you are not the one who eternally determines the difference between God and evil. That task is reserved for God and God alone, in the person of Jesus Christ.

Your own ways of thinking and behaving is to trust in yourself and to lean unto your own understanding, but what you need is to recognize the legitimacy of the authority of Jesus to judge all things.

“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” (John 5:19-25 KJV)

The judgment of your life, in regards to your words, actions, and even thoughts, will rest in the hands of Jesus alone. If your ways and thoughts do not align with those of Jesus, you will face the wrath of God.

“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:31-36 KJV)

The unwillingness to submit to Christ and His commands is to choose the wrath of God. To choose the wrath of God will result in your eternal damnation, which is perfect, holy, and just in the sight of God.

Happily Serving Christ,

Jesus Rose For My Righteousness!

The celebration of Easter is about the message of the cross. The cross not only draws our attention to the forgiveness of sins by the offering that Jesus made on our behalf, which is Himself.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:3-7 KJV)

The forgiveness of sins that Jesus accomplished through His death on the cross is not the end of the story. The real strength and power of the message of the cross is found in His resurrection because by His death, we have forgiveness, but by His resurrection, we stand fully justified, righteous, and holy before God, through faith.

“Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Romans 4:16-25 KJV)

Jesus is the greatest story ever told with the highlights being His birth to a virgin, His sinless life before God and man, His death on the cross, and to top it all off, His resurrection from the dead. By faith in Jesus His resurrection is your new life through which are are accepted in the presence of God as His own child!

Welcome Your King With Palms

Palm Sunday is a reminder that about one week before His crucifixion, the people of Jerusalem not only welcomed Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, the City of David, but they did so as King and Lord. They recognized His ruling authority and his deserving of the utmost respect and honor because you know that you need Him to take ownership and guidance in this life.

“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's c**t. These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.” (John 12:12-16 KJV)

While not all who have come to faith in Jesus welcomed Jesus into the city as Lord and King, they will when they acknowledge Jefsus as Lord and King of their lives through faith in Jesus. Such will be an acknowledgment that Jesus is the Lord and their Savior.

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 7:9-12 KJV)

What a blessing it is to know Jesus as your Lord. By this truth you will welcome Him into His dwelling place, your heart, for ever and ever..
