The God Moment Event
I have recently experienced a heartwarming event at my home, 'a God Moment' event. This day I was so tired because I had been busy with one thing or another. I hadn't taken notice of the skipped regular conversations I usually have with my three beautiful kids, let me say wonderful kids lest I am drawn into a long interrogation on the where to us the word beautiful and where not. However, before I stray from the topic, this day, after dinner as usual I ran upstairs to my office to finish whatever task I needed to accomplish. Before I could reach the stairs, my little daughter caught up with me and asked me to close my eyes as she led me upstairs because she had done something wonderful for her dad to see.
As good dads always do, I allowed her to lead me upstairs. As soon as we reached her door which was facing her sister's door, she stopped me and said "now you can open your eyes to see." I opened my eyes and saw two pieces of papers on the floor next to each door. On them was a written prayer of thanksgiving and a request for protection. And she explained to me that since I was so busy with my work and couldn't tug her in anymore or say a prayer with her, she decided to write us prayers of thanksgiving and of protection and placed them at our doors so that the tempter would not mess with our dreams and our sleep at night.
This touch the core of my being
This touch the core of my being. It made me review and reorder my priorities. You see my little girl's act of courage challenged to evaluate my priorities. I immediately recommitted myself in ensuring that our Altar of prayer is filled with all kinds of good-stuff prayers and not so-good-stuff prayers for ourselves and for others. That I take time to spend as much time with them doing the things and creating memories of the kingdom. That is why God admonished the Children of Israel in Deuteronomy chapter 8 that they should be careful to keep and do all that He commanded them to do in order for them to Live, Multiply and Occupy.
Take the God Moment Challenge
More than being proud of my daughter, it was a reminder to me of how many 'God Moment' with my kid had I missed because I was busy. I quickly returned to the basic. I now enjoy each and every 'God Moment' with my kids. I encourage you to take this challenge, 'The God Moment' challenge and deal your kids in. I also encourage you to expand to yourself, spouse, friend, family and neighbor. I promise you, you will not regret it. Happy God Moment.
