Day of Pentecost, Prayers of the People
God of us all, we thank You for the gift of life that is full of fellowship and worship this day. For the gift of Your Holy Church that is open to all people, anytime, anywhere, no matter the condition; the church that we here today have found a home in, that has invited us in, a church that by Your grace has said yes to us.. We pray for the continued work of the church in and through the world, that all people, anytime, anywhere, no matter the condition, would experience Your presence and the love of Christ for all. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Create in Your church, O God, people who desire nothing more than You, who seek with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength to do Your will and follow in Your way. Lord in Your
mercy, hear our prayer.
Unite Your One diverse yet universal church, O God, in all manners of grace and truth. Give us the humility to see others as You see them, and know that You are at work in all of our
lives. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Give us the faith O God, even if only the size of a mustard seed, to look at the obstacles we encounter in life as no match for You. Grant us, O God, with all humility, the confident assurance of faith that can work each day for that which we hope for because the same Spirit that lifted Christ to life again, lives and moves and has its way with us. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
God we pray for students and teachers who enter into a well deserved summer of rest after the hard work of the year is done. We praise You for the teachers, administrators, and staff, that pour into our children and provide a safe, formative place for them to grow. We pray for graduates of all levels, especially those who enter into the work field. Allow them to apply their knowledge in their chosen industries so that they provide a service not for profit’s sake but for the good of all. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
For those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to this great nation, we pray with hearts of gratitude for them, as well as for the care and concern for the family and friends that they left behind. God we pray that one day there will be no more need for memorials because swords have been beaten into plowshares, and spears into pruning hooks. God we pray that one day there will be no more need for memorials because justice will roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever flowing stream. God we pray that one day there will be no more need for memorials because nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. And until that day comes…Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord our Healer and Physician, we pray for those whose lives are closely linked with ours. For those who suffer in body, mind, or in spirit. We pray for them in their time of troubles, as well as for those who care for them and surround them with support. Lord in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Hear our prayers O God, that we lift up to You, all in the name of Christ our Lord who taught us to pray by saying...Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever. Amen
