Biblical Storytelling • Advanced Lay Servant

Learning the sacred stories of Scripture by heart and sharing them with others is both an ancient-future art and a powerful spiritual practice. This course is for everyone who wishes to learn, to tell, and to connect with God and other people through the ancient-future art and spiritual discipline of telling the sacred stories of Scripture – yes, you can do it too! By the end of this course, you are able to share at least one text with others by heart--not memory.

Pastor Della Ludwig invites you to explore this spiritual discipline with her during five two-hour sessions of learning and sharing. Della is a United Methodist Pastor serving in Rushville and Newark, NY. She serves on the Finger Lakes District Lay Servant Team and is a long-time biblical storyteller. She offers this course in a live online session.

Campus Ministry • Advanced Lay Servant
Is God Calling Your Congregation To Serve College Students?

Lay Servant Ministries of Upper New York is excited to offer a new course focused on empowering congregations to grow in understanding and service to students in local contexts! This course helps clergy and laity to:

† Think theologically about their congregation’s motivations and goals for creating a student ministry

† Orient themselves within the current landscape of higher education in the United States and locate their congregation within the particularity of their own institutional landscape

† Understand the importance of setting goals and expectations that prioritize student needs and voices.

† Identify the areas of ministry potential that already exist within their congregation and imagine new ways God may be calling them to use these gifts to serve students

† Create a plan to facilitate continued discernment and student ministry building in their congregation.
