Prayer for prayer meeting from Elder Doug Morgan

Gracious and Merciful Father,

As we gather together in this evening hour, we come with grateful hearts, rejoicing that we are Your children, cared for by Your loving hand. Just as a father shows compassion to his children, so You show compassion to those who fear You. You know our weakness, You remember that we are dust, and yet Your mercy toward us is everlasting.

Lord, we thank You that no circumstance can separate us from Your watchful care. Through days of joy and seasons of trial, You faithfully guide and sustain Your people. When we are weary, You are our strength. When we are troubled, You are our peace. When we feel uncertain, You remain our unchanging refuge. Truly, beneath Your wings Your children safely dwell.

As we enter this time of prayer, quiet our anxious thoughts and help us rest in Your faithful promises. Teach us to trust You with childlike faith, believing that You provide for every need according to Your perfect wisdom. Remind us tonight that our lives are held securely in Your eternal love.

Bless this gathering and unite our hearts in Christian fellowship. Encourage the discouraged, comfort the grieving, strengthen the weak, and renew all who seek Your face. Let Your Holy Spirit move among us, drawing us closer to Christ and to one another.

We praise You that Your righteousness extends to children’s children and to all who keep Your covenant and remember Your commandments. May our prayers this evening rise before You with humility, gratitude, and confidence in Your fatherly care.

And when our earthly journey is complete, bring us safely into Your heavenly kingdom, where we shall forever rejoice in Your presence.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray,

Amen

Pastoral prayer 05/03/2026 from Elder Douglas Morgan

Heavenly Father,
We come before You in reverence, acknowledging that You alone are God, and that Your Word reveals truth that surpasses human wisdom. As we reflect on Matthew 22:41–46, we stand in awe of the greatness of Your Son, Jesus Christ—David’s Son and yet David’s Lord. You have declared His supremacy, His authority, and His eternal reign, and we bow before Him as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Father, we confess that too often we have reduced Jesus to someone manageable—someone we admire, but do not fully submit to. Like the religious leaders of His day, we can be content with partial understanding, unwilling to embrace the full weight of who Christ is. Forgive us for acknowledging Him in word while resisting His lordship in our lives. Forgive us for placing our own reasoning above Your revealed truth.
Lord, we thank You for the clarity of Your Word, that Jesus is not only the Son of David in His humanity, but David’s Lord in His deity. He is exalted at Your right hand, just as Psalm 110 proclaims, and all authority has been given to Him. We praise You that He reigns now, not waiting to become King, but ruling over all creation, even when the world seems unaware or resistant.
Teach us, Father, to live under that rule. As has been faithfully taught in the ministry of Dr.Tony Evans, Your kingdom agenda must shape every area of our lives. Help us to align our thoughts, our decisions, our priorities, and our relationships under the lordship of Jesus Christ. Let us not be hearers of truth only, but doers who willingly submit to His authority.
We pray that You would expose any area of our lives where we are resisting Christ’s rule. Where pride remains, bring humility. Where fear controls us, grant faith. Where disobedience lingers, lead us to repentance. May we not leave Jesus as a theological concept to be debated, but embrace Him as Lord to be obeyed.
Father, strengthen Your church to proclaim the full identity of Christ without compromise. In a world that is comfortable with a partial Jesus, give us boldness to declare the whole truth—that He is both Savior and Sovereign. Empower pastors, teachers, and missionaries to preach Christ with clarity and conviction, so that hearts may be transformed and lives brought under His rule.
We also pray for those who have yet to recognize Jesus as Lord. Open their eyes to see His glory, soften their hearts to receive His truth, and draw them into submission to His saving authority. Let the reality of who Christ is silence doubt, overcome resistance, and lead many to faith.
And Father, we take comfort in knowing that Christ is seated at Your right hand, and that all His enemies will one day be made His footstool. No power, no ruler, no force can overthrow His kingdom. Therefore, help us to live with confidence, hope, and unwavering trust in His reign.
May our lives reflect the truth we confess—that Jesus Christ is Lord. And may we joyfully submit to Him, now and forever.
And now, Father, we lift-up Pastor Lori Barry to You as she prepares to bring Your Word this morning. Fill her with the Holy Spirit. Grant her clarity of mind, faithfulness to Scripture, and boldness in proclamation.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who was wounded for us, who prayed for us, and who saves us completely.
Amen

Prayer from Elder Douglas Morgan on Resurrection Sunday:

Gracious and sovereign God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit:

We draw near to You with humble hearts, mindful of the solemn path our Savior walked on the night He was betrayed. As we reflect upon Matthew 26:30–46, we see our Lord Jesus entering the shadows of Gethsemane, bearing the weight of sorrow that no human heart could fully comprehend. And yet, in that sacred hour, He submitted Himself wholly to Your will. “Not as I will, but as You will”—these words echo through the ages, calling us to surrender, trust, and obedience.

Father, we confess that we are not quick to watch and pray. Like the disciples, we grow weary, distracted, and unfaithful in moments that demand spiritual vigilance. We sleep when we should be seeking, we shrink when we should be standing. Forgive us for the weakness of our flesh and the dullness of our devotion. Teach us to abide in prayer, to draw strength from Your presence, and to stand firm in the hour of testing.

Yet we do not come to You in despair, for Your Word in Isaiah 53:5–6 reminds us of the great exchange accomplished through Christ. He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the chastisement that brought us peace was laid upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Lord, we marvel at such love—that the sinless One would bear the guilt of the guilty, that the Shepherd would lay down His life for wandering sheep like us. We confess that we have gone astray, each to our own way, but we rejoice that You have laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

O Father, anchor our hearts in the truth so faithfully proclaimed in the ministry of Charles H. Spurgeon—that our hope is not in our strength, but in Christ alone. We are weak, but He is mighty. We are prone to wander, but He is steadfast to save. Let us not trust in fleeting resolve, but in the finished work of our Redeemer, who drank the cup of wrath so that we might drink the cup of salvation.
This morning as we celebrate the risen Christ, who all power in heaven and earth has been given, we say with confidence, as Isaiah 12:2 declares, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid.” Lord, drive out our fears with the assurance of Your presence. When we face trials, remind us that Christ has already entered the deepest sorrow and emerged victorious. When we are tempted to despair, lift our eyes to the One who intercedes for us even now.

Strengthen Your church, we pray. Make us a people who watch and pray, who stand firm in the truth, and who cling to Christ in every circumstance. Empower pastors, missionaries, and all who proclaim the gospel, that they may declare with boldness the sufficiency of Christ’s atoning work. May many who are wandering be brought home to the Shepherd of their souls.

Search us, O God, and renew within us a steadfast spirit. Teach us to submit to Your will, to rest in Your salvation, and to walk in the confidence of Your redeeming grace.

And now, Father, we lift up Pastor Lori Barry to You as she prepares to bring Your Word this morning. Fill her with the Holy Spirit. Grant her clarity of mind, faithfulness to Scripture, and boldness in proclamation.

We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who was wounded for us, who prayed for us, and who saves us completely.

Amen
