It's here!!! Disability Inclusion Day @ Hendricks County Fair. WEDNESDAY, JULY 19 @ 10am - 4pm. Please see the flyer below for all the details. This year you simply need the QR code to gain free entrance to the fair (digital copies work! Or you may print the flyer.) Everything will be free for you, unless you choose to purchase food, although you may bring your own food as well. Activities are changing all day long, so you will have enough to keep you busy if you choose to stay all day 🙂 New this year: Sign Language Interpreters for shows and activities!

SHINE will be at the Mooresville High School disability fair Sat. 3/11 from 10 am to 2 pm. We share a table with Down Syndrome Indiana. Stop by and fill out an interest survey for a chance to win an Amazon gift card!

Well this pandemic just won’t quit! We still want to keep your family safe, but we also would like to be a real community of mutual support. Who would be interested in:
1. Virtual support group
2. Virtual small group Christian study
3 Outdoor cookout or gathering

You don’t have to be part of the church. In fact, for the virtual options you don’t even need to be in Indiana! Please comment below re your interest in 1, 2 and/or 3. Feel free to add your own suggestions too!

We started SHINE disability ministry as a way to make church more accessible, but in the pandemic, it hasn't been safe for most of our families to attend church, and now we're back online. So here are some ways we want to take the ministry.
1. Would you like to attend church online or join a virtual Sunday morning class? Message us and we'll send you some options.
2. Would you like a class just for families of people of with disabilities, and/or for youth or adults with disabilities? Message us and we'll send you some options.
3. Are you in need - for food, bills, Christmas, or things? Let us know and we will see what we can do, or post that need so people can respond.
4. Do you have things or gifts to share with others in need. Post what you have or send us a message. We can all be a part of helping each other.

We are starting up the SHINE moms group again, virtually! We will meet on Google Hangout at 7 pm Thursdays. We will chat, go over a brief spiritual topic for parents of individuals with disabilities, and just spend some time talking with people who get it. As the pandemic has worsened, a number of adults with disabilities and their families have been concerned that 1) health care providers could deny treatment such as ventilators to people with significant disabilities and medical histories, and 2) concerned that in the current climate of 0 visitors in hospitals for adults, that a person with D could be hospitalized without the comfort and communication provided by their parent or other primary caregiver.

Our SHINE moms small group for mothers of kids with disabilities of any age, any disability, had our first Google hangout tonight and it was good to connect from the safety of our homes. Please join us and invite others to join us. We're in the west suburbs of Indianapolis but you can join from anywhere! Just drop me your gmail email address (or create one; it's free), and I'll add you to the group. We can message each other at any time and we meet for a video call on Tuesdays at 7 pm.
