I have a very important message I wanted to share with everyone today regarding Pentecost and the birth of the church. I hope this encourages someone today.
The amazing thing about Pentecost is this: it is not only the day we celebrate the birth of the Church, but it is also connected to the Jewish Feast of Weeks — celebrated fifty days after Passover in remembrance of when God gave Moses the Law and the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai.
But here is the powerful truth many people overlook.
When Moses came down with the Law, Israel had fallen into sin with the golden calf, and about 3,000 people died that day.
“Then he said to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: Let every man put his sword on his side…’ … And about three thousand men of the people fell that day.”
— Exodus 32:27-28 NKJV
Now fast forward to Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. The Holy Spirit falls. The disciples begin preaching with boldness and power. Peter stands and proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ — and this time, instead of 3,000 dying, 3,000 are SAVED.
“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.”
— Acts 2:41 NKJV
What a beautiful picture of redemption.
The Law revealed sin, but the Spirit brought life.
The Law written on stone exposed the heart, but the Spirit written on hearts transformed lives.
What was lost through sin, God restored through grace.
Pentecost is proof that God is still in the restoring business.
Where death once reigned, Jesus brought life.
Where condemnation once stood, mercy now speaks.
Where sin broke humanity, the Holy Spirit rebuilt what was lost.
“For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:6 NKJV
This is the greatness of God:
He does not merely repair what was broken — He redeems it, restores it, and fills it with His glory.
Pentecost reminds us that God’s plan was never just about rules on tablets; it was always about relationship, transformation, and the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.
“And I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.”
— Ezekiel 36:26 NKJV
Today, may we remember:
The same Spirit poured out in Acts 2 is still moving today.
Still saving.
Still healing.
Still restoring.
Still empowering the Church to carry the Gospel to the nations.
What sin tried to destroy, God restored through Jesus Christ.
That is the power and beauty of Pentecost.
