🇲🇽 Prayer Request: Mexico Mission Team

Please pray for our team serving with Esperanza Missions in Mexico this week! They’ll be helping build a rehabilitation and training center while sharing Christ’s love with children and families there.

Pray for safe travel, strength, wisdom, meaningful Gospel conversations, and for God to work through every interaction. Thank you for lifting this team and the ministry of Esperanza Missions in prayer!

🙏 Pause and pray!

Pray for our ministry partners in Central Asia and for our mission team that is preparing to serve alongside them this week. Pray for strength, wisdom, protection, and opportunities to build relationships and share the gospel.

This region is home to many unreached people groups, including people who have little or no access to the gospel or Scripture in their own language. Pray that God would open hearts, create opportunities for gospel conversations, encourage those who are serving there longterm, and draw people to Himself.

Please also pray for our team as they go. Pray that God would use them to strengthen and encourage our partners and that they would be sensitive to every opportunity He provides.

"Valentina was born in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don in 1942 to parents who had fled German-occupied Ukraine during World War II. Valentina, one of six children born to Christian parents, shared about the many ways God protected and provided for her family during those difficult years—from miraculously shielding them from falling shells as they prayed in a ditch during a German attack to supplying them with food during the terrible Soviet famine that broke out after the war. Valentina remembers her father taking what little grain they had to Poland to exchange it for potatoes they could grow. Her mother, with no food for her six children, looked up to the ceiling and prayed for bread, only to have a local pastor come that very day with food for them to eat. Over and over again, the story of Valentina’s life was, “God preserved me.”

Small Groups, help us serve our Neighbors in Need!

His Storehouse Ministries is looking for 4 small groups to partner with us by “owning” one essential item that they donate once each quarter.

This is a simple, practical way for your small group to serve our neighbors in need and help ensure His Storehouse can continue meeting needs throughout our community in Spartanburg. We are currently serving nearly 110 neighbors in need each month.

We need small groups to commit to providing one of the following each quarter:

- Bottled floor cleaner
- All-purpose spray cleaner
- Window cleaner
- Bottled dish soap

Would you like to challenge your small group to take on one of these items? Contact Missions Director, Ashlee Mahoney, at [email protected] if you're interested.

Your next grocery run could help bless a child this Christmas. 🛒🎄
This September, our Midweek Missions kids (K5–3rd grade) will pack Christmas Blessing Bags for Sidewalk Hope to distribute to more than 400 children this Christmas season. We’d love your help collecting the full-size items needed to fill each bag!

Here’s what we’re collecting:
🧴 Deodorant (men’s or women’s)
🧴 Body lotion
🫧 Washcloth
🧼 Bar of soap
🪥 Toothpaste & toothbrush

Donations are needed by September 1 and can be dropped off in the His Storehouse bin at Central Campus or sent with your child when Midweek Missions begins. Please label all donations “Sidewalk Hope Blessing Bags.”

Looking for a way to serve together? Small groups are also welcome to pack complete bags to donate!

Thank you for helping our kids put their faith into action while blessing our community! ❤️ For questions or more information about Sidewalk Hope, contact Becky Cain at [email protected].

Mike and Jenn were both trying to figure out what the Lord would have for them in missions. Early in their dating relationship, Jenn confronted Mike with a big question. “I told Mike, ‘I am called to the unreached people in the world, and if you’re not on the same page, this is never going to work.”

Mike’s response? “Oh, this is good!”

“Our number one tip,” Jenn said, “is, if you are feeling the call, but looking for a spouse is to share that call. One person cannot carry the call. It has to be an individual call for both people.”

“I’ve never seen another option of what God wanted for me,” Jenn added. “I had what some people would call a ‘dream job’ in marketing in the comfortable city of Spartanburg, but the whole time I was working, Mike and I were working on plans to leave.”
