In what ways are we lost to ourselves ? Whats broken ? How are we an alien to our own life or a stranger in our own skin ? However we might answer those questions and whatever our self-alienation might be, Jesus enters the synagogue of our life and calls us back to ourselves. He will not run from or avoid whatever our self alienation might be, Jesus enters the synagogue of our life and calls us back to ourselves. He will not run from or avoid our self-alienation and the many ways we have become estranged from ourselves. He stands with us in the midst of it, inviting us to recognition. He clarifies the truth about who we are. And he does it over and over. It might take years of recognition but the promise of Christ holds true. One day we will look at ourselves and say,"I know you. You're the holy one of God." Amen.

Prayer for Peace
Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn
but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that
all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince
of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominions
and glory, now and for ever. Amen

We often talk about inviting Jesus into our hearts, or making Jesus part of our lives. But what if we turn that around, and realize that Jesus is welcoming us into his life? Jesus invites us to come and see where he lives. He offers us the opportunity to become part of what he is doing. His inviation is open, but it's up to us to follow, up to us to "come and see." We must decide if we can make that kind of deep commitment, if we can devote ourselves to that kind of close relationship. It means letting go of our own assumptions and expectations, and surrendering our whole being to God's desire and plan for us. Entering into a life-long commitment to be part of Christ's life is the only way you will ever fulfill that deep longing inside you. It's a longing that you might not even be able to name. But it's there.

For everyone there is always an invitation to 'come and see." It's the invitation to get up and move to a new place, to leave behind our assumptions and judgments, to give up our certitudes, to risk not knowing, to see with the eyes of our heart, and to let ourselves be surprised by God. It's the invitation to let ourselves be changed; to see, believe, and love in new ways. It's a space in which we are given the freedom to choose to believe or not to believe-in God, in another, and in ourselves. It can change our lives forever. Come and see.

DUE TO IMPENDING SNOW STORM
THE JAN 7 SERVICE WILL BE ZOOM ONLY

PRAYER FOR THE NEW YEAR
God our Father, thank you for being the God who walks besides those who love Him in the Valley of the Shadow of Death. I rejoice in the continued presence of the Holy Spirit with me, so that I am never alone. Lord, I lift up a sincere request for happiness during this year of difficulty. Help me find joy, that I may continue to engage with those around me with Christian love. Sometimes it can be hard to see Your hand moving when everything around me seems dark. Help me find happiness so that I can see Your work, even if I do not understand it fully right now. I know that You use all things for Your glory, and for my good. I ask that You keep my focus on You during this New Year. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Thank you Lord for new beginnings and unwavering provision. We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will guide our decisions. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened, and clost the ones needing to be shut tight. May the New Year be filled with peace, prosperity and love. May God's blessings shower upon us with a bright, healthy and peaceful year ahead. Amen.

A message from our minister Fr Jean Lenord Quatorze this holiday season.
The Church of the Divine Love, Montrose in Westchester County NY, has Christmas Eve Service tonight at 7:30. We will be decorating and preparing the church altar this afternoon ! Please join us if you live in the area !

“It has been said that the most wonderful time of the year is Christmas season, as kingdom people we all feel that way, the music, the food, the celebration; everywhere people are singing carols, people are exchanging gifts, families are getting together, remembering the birth of Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus does deserve this kind of celebration because He is the gift of God to earth for the redemption and the salvation of mankind. And this every year its the biggest party on earth, we are celebrating the incarnation of God in the flesh. The Bible calls it Emmanuel which means God with us. And unto us a child is born, a son is given and the government is upon his shoulder, he came to earth to restore heaven government on earth. That’s why we want to encourage you to celebrate with us the great Christmas season and on behalf of my family, my church, we want to wish all of you a merry Christmas and happy new year!
May the hope, peace, joy, and love of Christ’s birth reach deeply into our hearts to transform the world’s pain and grief through action and prayer.”

Prayers for Christmas

Oh God, who makes us glad with the yearly remembrance of the birth of thy only Son Jesus Christ: Grant that as we joyfully receive him for our Redeemer, so we may with sure confidence behold him when he shall come to be our Judge.

Oh God, who has caused this holy night to shine with the illumination of the true light; Grant us, we ask you, that as we have known the mystery of that Light upon earth, so may we also perfectly enjoy him in heaven; where with you and the Holy Spirit he lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting.
Amen.

The carol of the Twelve Days of Christmas explained:

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly; in fact owning a Bible was illegal and getting caught with one could get you killed. During that era, this carol was written as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning; the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of the church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

1. The Partridge in a Pear Tree is Jesus Christ.
2. Two Turtle Doves are the Old and New Testaments.
3. Three French Hens stand for Faith, Hope and Love.
4. The Four Calling Birds are the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark,
Luke and John.
5. The Five Golden Rings recall the Torah of Law, the first five
Books of the Old Testament.
6. The Six Geese A-Laying stand for the six Days of Creation.
7. Seven Swans A-Swimming represents the sevenfold first of
the Holy Spirit- Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation,
Contribution, Leadership and Mercy.
8. The Eight Maids A-Milking are the eight Beatitudes.
9. Nine Ladies Dancing are the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit-
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness,
Gentleness and Self Control.
10. The Ten Lords A-Leaping are the Ten Commandments.
11. The Eleven Pipers Piping stand for the eleven Faithful
Disciples.
12. The Twelve Drummers Drumming symbolize the twelve Points
of Belief in the Apostles Creed.

Second Sunday of Advent

We often consider displaced people to be those who have been affected by war, persecution, or natural disasters. If your life has ever been uprooted and left you feeling like you occupy space but are not really grounded, then you know what it is to be a displaced person. Every one of us could tell a story about a time when we were in exile, alienated from life, our self, those we love, and our God. Exiles live in a foreign land: a land of guilt and regret, fear, sorrow, despair. That is never where God intended us to live. It is not our true home but sometimes that is where we are. There are many paths into exile, but only one way out...the way of the Lord.

We want to find our place. More than anything we want to be placed people. The way home is the way of becoming a placed people, and the path we need to take is always through the wilderness. There is no way around, and you can't get out of it. You can only go through it.

We so often have an image of the wilderness as empty, barren, and desolate, a place where the best you can hope for is to survive. But what if the wilderness is really a place of life, a place of hope, and a place of connectedness.

Let us examine our own lives, humbly acknowledging our need for repentance and renewal. Let us prepare our hearts to receive Jesus, allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us and empower us for the Kingdom purposes He has for each of us, so we all may emerge at last and find our place.

First Sunday in Advent

The season of Advent is a time of hope for all of us who have felt overcome or burdened by the brokenness of this world. It is a season we are reminded, over the course of 25 days, that Christ came into the brokenness of this world as a Great light. As no matter how dark the world may seem, God's light shines. The presence of Christ is the ultimate answer to every prayer, to every light extinguishing loss, to every Advent of our life. Advent invites us to receive the God who comes to us in the darkness of life.

We need to be reminded, to wake up, to reconnect to the beauty of life, the mystery of love, the wonder of creation. We need to be connected to that original goodness and beauty that resides in each of us, that has always been there and has never been lost; maybe forgotten, but never lost. We need to be reminded and connected to each other in a deeper way. We need to awaken to hope. We need to be alert to the presence of God in unexpected places and surprising ways. We need to awaken to and be reminded that simple presence often says more than our word and does more than our actions. Beyond the season of Advent, we need to know that the broken bits of life will not have the final word, for we have a God who holds the world in his hands.
