Good morning. The collection of shoes is ongoing. Due to a generous duo, we have made a good start. Please bring new Tennis shoes and socks for all ages, K-12, for the Jefferson County schools' beginning. God is good. The Church is exercising its discipled gifts of ministry to our neighbors. From the August 17 Daily Lectionary, Psalm 130, also called De Profundis, caught my attention: A Psalm that begins with a plea for mercy and then advises that trust in the Lord will redeem. Have a wonderful week.

Good morning, here is the Psalm from Saturday's Daily Lectionary: Two quick things: Psalm 67 begins with a similar blessing to the Aaronic Blessing found in Numbers 6; then verses 2-3 remind us of God's call to all peoples of the earth. The Psalms' longing for all people to praise God may be a precursor to the Great Commission found in Matthew 28.

There has been little traffic through the Daily Lectionary, so today, August 14, I have chosen one of the readings to share: Psalm 133, one of the Psalms of Ascent of David. Psalm 133 shows a world where God’s people walk, worship, and work side-by-side. The result of this type of unity makes humanity thrive, heaven’s fragrance fills the air, fresh dew revives our weary hearts, and a promise of eternal life becomes a present reality; similar to the promise in the Lord's prayer that Gods kingdom will be on earth as it is in heaven. A thousand years later, as reported in the Gospel of John 17:20-23, Jesus says: “that they may all be one…so that the world may believe.”
