We’re happy to share that the Hearken app is once again available for download on Apple devices through the App Store.

Thank you to everyone who reached out and reported the issue, and thank you for your patience while we worked with Hearken’s developers and Apple to resolve it.

If you were unable to install the app during the past few weeks, you may now download it as usual. Existing users were not affected, and all content and subscriptions have remained available throughout this time.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to continuing to serve you through Hearken.

The Menahga and Brainerd congregations warmly welcome you to attend Summer Services July 2–5! There are many work shifts needed to make this event a success. Help from anyone attending is greatly appreciated!

To sign up for a work shift, visit www.llchurch.org/2026-summer-services and click “Work Shift Sign Up.”

There are several signups with shifts for different areas of service. If you are visiting the sign up via mobile device there is a drop-down menu to switch between them, once you have your sign up selected hit “go” to see available shifts. On a computer there are tabs along the top to switch between signups. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

On the final day of a 10-day mission trip to Togo and Benin, Eric Jurmu of Buffalo, Minnesota, spoke with Akouvi Benedicte Fiodendi, a young believer from the Lomé congregation in Togo. Speaking French, Akouvi shared that she is a first-year science student at the University of Lomé and reflected with thankfulness on having been born into a believing home. She spoke of the grace God has given through believing parents.

When asked what message she would share with young believers in Finland, Asia, and North America, Akouvi encouraged them to remain hopeful and trust in God’s care. “It is God who is doing everything in my life,” she shared.

During a recent 10-day mission trip to Togo and Benin, Eric Jurmu of Buffalo, Minnesota, interviewed Richard Dogbevi of Lomé, Togo, who served as an interpreter throughout the journey. Richard shared how the message of the forgiveness of sins first came to his family around the year 2000, when his mother received the grace of repentance. Though she passed away in 2011, Richard said God has preserved him in living faith and helped him understand the precious gift of forgiveness in God’s kingdom.

Richard also reflected on the blessing of joining a mission trip for the first time. Through traveling with fellow believers, visiting congregations in Togo and Benin, and hearing God’s Word preached daily, he experienced encouragement, new learning, and strengthening of faith. The visit was a reunion as well, as Eric and Richard first met many years ago when Richard attended confirmation school in Lomé. The brothers parted with thankfulness, encouragement, and wishes for God’s continued blessings and protection in faith.

Sierra Leone

On this trip, we have especially noticed the children at services. The service schedule in some locations has been adjusted so the children will be home from school before services begin. On one occasion school had ended and many students stopped to listen to Sunday school and services on their way home. In another location, the children went back to school after services.

In each location, we have had a Sunday school lesson and a sermon followed by discussion. We have taught lessons on Jesus feeds the 5000, Look at the birds of the sky, and the Parable of the unmerciful servant.

The lessons are in the recently published “Friend of Children: Illustrated Bible Lessons, Volume 1.” Believers here in Sierra Leone are very happy for this teaching help. They plan to print copies for all their Sunday school teachers.

Rebuild Update – Seattle Laestadian Lutheran Church
April 2026

Rita Lang from our building committee shared that we have hired a company to complete the design and permit documents for our Roosevelt church project. The company will begin work within the next two weeks.

Our Conditional Use (CU) application has also been moving forward. After submitting in October 2025, we received comments in December and have been working with our consultants to address three key areas:
• Neighbor feedback
• Site plan updates
• Critical Areas review related to nearby wetlands

We anticipate resubmitting all materials to the county by the end of May. Once approved, the project will move to a public hearing with the hearings’ examiner.

Note: Building photos are early design renderings and do not represent finalized plans.

Sierra Leone

Greetings from Sierra Leone! Our trip has gone well. Today we will travel back to Freetown and be there until the end of our trip. We will stop in one location, Kebbie Town, on the way to Freetown. The believers here send many greetings!

Travel often presents challenges. The distances may not always be far but the travel can take quite a bit of time. On Tuesday we needed to stop for car repairs which delayed us about two hours. We also crossed a river with short ferry ride.

On Monday and Tuesday nights there were heavy thunderstorms. The rainy season is beginning in Sierra Leone and it lasts through August. Yesterday we needed to walk a few times so the car was lighter as we navigated some rough sections. We had to wait until a stuck truck was moved so we could continue our travels.

When we arrive at service locations, people have gathered to hear God’s Word. We pray that God through His Word strengthens the believers and that His Word also calls listeners unto repentance and the forgiveness of sins.

Within the past couple days, we’ve received messages letting us know that the Hearken app is currently unavailable to install on Apple devices.

We are actively working with Hearken’s developers and Apple to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. At this time, this appears to be a temporary issue, and we expect the app to be available for download again soon.

If you already have the app installed on your device, you can continue using it normally. No content or subscriptions have been affected. Thank you for your patience as we work to make sure the app is available for Apple users to install again!
