⛪️ JUST KEEP ON BUILDING 🧱✝️
Rev OJ Sloan August 17,2025

Family, Nehemiah teaches us a lesson we all need in this season: “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down.” (Nehemiah 6:3)

👉 When you start building for God—expect opposition.
👉 When you step into purpose—critics will rise.
👉 When you move forward—distractions will call your name.

But like Nehemiah, you’ve got to stay on the wall! 🙌

🔨 Keep building even when they talk about you.
🔨 Keep building even when storms come.
🔨 Keep building even when tears fall.

Somebody’s joy needs to be rebuilt. Somebody’s peace needs to be rebuilt. Somebody’s faith needs to be rebuilt. But here’s the good news: God is the Master Builder, and He will strengthen your hands. 💪

Don’t come down, family. Stay focused. Stay faithful. Stay on the wall. ✝️

If you believe God is strengthening your hands today, drop this in the comments:
➡️ “I’m staying on the wall!”

Staying in Your Place of Divine Safety: Lessons from Abner’s Foolish Death

Abner’s tragic death in 2 Samuel 3 teaches a crucial lesson about staying within God’s divine protection. David lamented, “Should Abner have died as a fool dies?” (2 Sam. 3:33), highlighting that Abner willingly stepped outside his place of safety and into destruction.

1. Leaving Safety Leads to Danger

Abner had refuge in Hebron, a city of protection, but he left it when Joab called him out. Though his hands and feet were free, he walked into danger by choice. Like Abner, we must stay within God’s boundaries, as proximity to safety is not enough—remaining inside is what protects us.

2. Beware of Relationships That Pull You Away

Romans 16:17 warns us to watch for those who cause division and pull us away from God’s truth. Like Joab deceived Abner, some people lure us with seemingly harmless invitations. These can gradually lead us away from spiritual safety, whether through compromise, distractions, or relationships that weaken our faith.

3. Recognizing Red Flags

• Inconsistent spiritual pursuit – If someone isn’t fully committed to Christ, they can’t align with your divine calling.

• Unhealthy conflict patterns – Constant tension and negativity indicate a misalignment with God’s peace.

• Spiritual decline – If you feel distant from God, ask: Is this connection drawing me closer or further from Him?

4. The Importance of Staying in Divine Refuge

Just as Jesus resisted temptation by staying within God’s will (Matt. 4:10), we must recognize that divine boundaries exist for our protection, not limitation (Psalm 74:17). Many, like Abner, perish just outside their place of refuge, not because they lacked wisdom, but because they failed to stay within what God had provided.

5. Exiting Relationships That Threaten Your Spiritual Safety

2 Corinthians 6:17 calls us to separate from relationships that compromise our faith. Leaving harmful connections isn’t about judgment—it’s about protecting your spiritual well-being. As Hebrews 10:30 reminds us, vengeance belongs to God, not us. Our responsibility is to guard our spiritual lives.

Final Thought & Prayer

Abner’s death was preventable. His mistake? Trusting the wrong person and stepping outside God’s protection. Let’s be wise, not foolish, in our relationships, ensuring that we stay in the place of divine safety.

Prayer: Lord, help us discern the people and places meant for our spiritual protection. Give us wisdom to stay within Your will and courage to walk away from anything that pulls us from Your covering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

📖 Bible Study Teaching: The Principle of the Detour

Introduction:
Life often presents us with two paths: shortcuts and detours. A shortcut may seem appealing because it promises speed, but a detour—though longer—ensures safety and preparation. The reality is that shortcuts can lead to pitfalls, while detours, though undesired, lead to destiny.

💡 Inspiring Quote:
“The shortest route isn’t always the best route. God is not just trying to get you there quickly; He’s trying to get you there prepared and safely.”

Five Key Principles of the Detour

1. God’s Detours Are for Your Development

📖 Exodus 13:17-18 – “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’ So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.”

🔍 Explanation:
Israel could have taken a shortcut to the Promised Land, but God took them through the wilderness for their spiritual maturity. They needed preparation before possessing their promise.

✅ Application:
Sometimes, what looks like a delay is actually divine preparation. Instead of fighting against God’s process, trust that He knows what’s ahead.

✍ Actionable Step:
• Identify an area in your life where you feel delayed. Ask God, “What are you teaching me in this season?”

2. Shortcuts Lead to Setbacks

📖 Proverbs 14:12 – “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

🔍 Explanation:
Shortcuts can appear logical, but they often lead to destruction. Abraham and Sarah took a shortcut by trying to fulfill God’s promise through Hagar (Genesis 16), leading to conflict and long-term consequences.

✅ Application:
Before taking what looks like an easy way out, ask: “Is this God’s way, or just my way?”

✍ Actionable Step:
• Before making major decisions, pray for discernment. Seek wise counsel from those with spiritual maturity.

3. Detours Build Dependence on God

📖 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

🔍 Explanation:
Paul prayed for his “thorn” to be removed, but God used it to teach him dependence on divine strength. Detours cultivate trust in God, refining our faith.

✅ Application:
When life takes an unexpected turn, see it as an invitation to rely on God more deeply.

✍ Actionable Step:
• Keep a gratitude journal. List ways God has been faithful in past detours.

4. The Long Route Leads to Lasting Blessings

📖 James 1:4 – “Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

🔍 Explanation:
Joseph’s journey to leadership in Egypt was filled with painful detours—betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment. But every delay was preparing him for his ultimate destiny (Genesis 50:20).

✅ Application:
Your waiting season isn’t wasted. God is shaping you for something greater.

✍ Actionable Step:
• Ask yourself: “What skills, lessons, or character traits is God developing in me during this season?”

5. God’s Path May Not Be Desired, But It’s Always Designed

📖 Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

🔍 Explanation:
Detours don’t feel good, but they are for our good. God orchestrates everything—even the painful, undesired paths—to lead us into His divine purpose.

✅ Application:
When life feels off-course, remember: God is still in control. His path is always intentional.

✍ Actionable Step:
• Write down a testimony of a time when what seemed like a delay turned out to be a divine setup.

Conclusion & Prayer:

🚦 Summary:
• Detours Develop You (Exodus 13:17-18)
• Shortcuts Lead to Setbacks (Proverbs 14:12)
• Detours Build Dependence (2 Corinthians 12:9)
• The Long Route Brings Lasting Blessings (James 1:4)
• God’s Path is Designed, Even When Undesired (Romans 8:28)

🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for ordering my steps, even when I don’t understand the path. Help me to trust Your detours, knowing that You are preparing me for greater. Teach me patience, wisdom, and faith to follow Your direction, not my own shortcuts. I surrender my timeline for Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🔥 Final Encouragement:
God is not just trying to get you THERE; He’s trying to get you READY. Trust the process! 🚀

📖 Bible Study Teaching: “Be Who God Called You to Be”

📜 Inspirational Quote:
“Your obedience to God is not dependent on the approval of others but on the assignment He has placed in you.”

📖 Introduction

Life will always present challenges where people may be unfair, misunderstand you, or even mistreat you. However, your calling and character should never be dictated by the actions of others. Just as Joseph, Daniel, the three Hebrew boys, and Jesus remained faithful despite opposition, we must remain steadfast in who God has called us to be.

📖 Five Key Biblical Principles & Applications

1️⃣ Your Identity is Defined by God, Not People

📖 Genesis 37:5-11, 50:20 – Joseph’s brothers hated him, yet he remained faithful to his calling.

🔎 Explanation: Joseph was chosen by God, and despite betrayal, slavery, and false accusations, he never let others’ actions change his integrity.

📌 Application: Others may try to undermine or define you, but stay grounded in God’s truth. When faced with criticism or mistreatment, remind yourself: “God’s plan for my life outweighs people’s opinions of me.”

2️⃣ Faithfulness to God Over Popular Opinion

📖 Daniel 3:16-18 – The three Hebrew boys refused to bow to Nebuchadnezzar’s idol.

🔎 Explanation: Their unwavering faith in God kept them from compromising, even under the threat of death.

📌 Application: There will be times when standing for righteousness makes you unpopular. Do not compromise your values for temporary acceptance. Choose faithfulness over fear.

3️⃣ Your Circumstances Don’t Change Your Calling

📖 Genesis 39:6-9 – Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph, but he remained righteous.

🔎 Explanation: Even when falsely accused, Joseph refused to sin. His integrity led to elevation.

📌 Application: People may mistreat or misjudge you, but your responsibility is to remain obedient. Stay true to your principles, knowing God rewards faithfulness.

4️⃣ Obedience to God Brings Promotion, Even in Opposition

📖 Daniel 6:10-23 – Daniel continued to pray, even when it was illegal, and God delivered him.

🔎 Explanation: Daniel didn’t change his devotion to God to fit the culture. God honored his obedience by protecting him from the lions.

📌 Application: Even when standing for righteousness puts you in difficult situations, trust that God is your defender. He will sustain and elevate you in due time.

5️⃣ Jesus is Our Ultimate Example

📖 Luke 23:34 – Jesus was misunderstood, rejected, and crucified, yet He remained who He was.

🔎 Explanation: Jesus did not change His mission because of opposition. Instead, He fulfilled His divine purpose despite resistance.

📌 Application: Others may not understand your calling, but your responsibility is to remain steadfast. Follow Jesus’ example by loving, forgiving, and staying faithful to your God-given purpose.

📖 Summary & Actionable Steps

1️⃣ Know your identity – Don’t let people define you.
2️⃣ Stand firm in faith – Popularity should never outweigh your commitment to God.
3️⃣ Remain obedient – Your calling doesn’t change because of difficult circumstances.
4️⃣ Trust God for promotion – He honors faithfulness, even in trials.
5️⃣ Follow Jesus’ example – Stay true to who you are, no matter the opposition.

🙏 Prayer:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me with a divine purpose. Help me to stay faithful despite opposition. Strengthen me when I feel misunderstood or mistreated. May I walk in integrity like Joseph, remain steadfast like Daniel, and follow the example of Jesus in all things. I trust that Your plan will prevail in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

🔥 Encouragement: Stay who God called you to be! The reward of faithfulness is far greater than the approval of people. Keep walking in purpose! 🚀

“The King Has One More Move”

At the Louvre, there's a painting called "Checkmate," illustrating a chess game between the devil and a man in despair. During a tour for prominent athletes, including a world chess champion, the painting was explained as a depiction of a struggle with the devil. The champion, however, lingered at the painting, noticing the title's implication of defeat wasn't accurate. He observed that the king piece still had a move, symbolizing hope even when situations seem hopeless. This insight suggests that in challenging aspects of life, there remains potential for overcoming difficulties, as "the king has one more move."

Introduction:
Life often presents us with moments where we feel trapped, outmaneuvered, and hopeless—like the man in the painting Checkmate. But the revelation from the world chess champion echoes a profound spiritual truth: The King still has one more move! No matter how desperate your situation seems, God’s sovereignty reigns supreme.

Inspirational Quote:
“It’s not over when the enemy says it’s over; it’s over when God says it’s over!”

Five Key Biblical Truths: The King Still Has One More Move

1. God’s Plans Supersede the Enemy’s Schemes

Scripture: Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.”

✅ Explanation: The enemy may strategize against you, but his plans cannot override God’s divine will.

✅ Application: When life seems like checkmate, trust in God’s sovereignty. He has already declared victory over your circumstances.

✅ Action Step: Speak God’s promises over your situation instead of the enemy’s lies.

2. What Looks Like Defeat Is Often a Setup for Victory

Scripture: Genesis 50:20 – “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”

✅ Explanation: Joseph was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, and imprisoned, yet God positioned him for greatness.

✅ Application: Your struggles are not the end of your story—God is setting you up for a divine turnaround.

✅ Action Step: Look beyond your pain and ask God, “What are You setting up for me?”

3. God’s Power Is Revealed in Our Weakness

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

✅ Explanation: When we feel powerless, God’s strength manifests in miraculous ways.

✅ Application: Stop trying to fight battles in your own strength—lean on God’s grace.

✅ Action Step: Declare, “God, I trust You to make the next move on my behalf.”

4. Delay Is Not Denial—God Moves in His Perfect Timing

Scripture: Habakkuk 2:3 – “For the vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come.”

✅ Explanation: God is never late. What appears as stagnation is actually preparation for a divine shift.

✅ Application: Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep believing—God is working behind the scenes.

✅ Action Step: Write down your prayers and track how God answers them over time.

5. The King’s Final Move Is Always Victory!

Scripture: Revelation 1:18 – “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

✅ Explanation: Jesus’ resurrection proves that even death couldn’t checkmate the King!

✅ Application: If Jesus conquered the grave, your problems are no match for His power.

✅ Action Step: Worship God in advance, knowing that victory is already secured.

Summary:

When the enemy whispers, “It’s over”, remind him: The King still has one more move! Your finances, your family, your health, your dreams—none of them are beyond God’s ability to turn things around. Keep your faith strong, for victory is already written in your story.

Closing Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of the impossible. When we feel trapped and hopeless, remind us that You are always in control. We surrender our battles to You, trusting that You will make the final move in our favor. Strengthen our faith and help us walk in victory. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

Declare it: “The King still has one more move!”

Final Encouragement:
No matter what you’re facing, don’t give up—God is about to make His next move! Keep believing, keep trusting, and watch how He turns your checkmate into a comeback!
