History of New Charity Baptist Church

The New Charity Baptist Church was organized on November 21, 1908, by families living in the Slat Community of Wayne County, Kentucky. We were blessed with the opportunity to purchase two acres of land on Greenbriar Road for a total of $15.00. The congregation outgrew the original wood frame building and on November 23, 1946, the church voted to construct a n

ew concrete block building. That concrete block building is still standing but hidden under several renovations including Sunday School rooms and bathrooms. By 2004 the church had outgrown its seating capacity in the sanctuary. The congregation voted to enlarge the sanctuary and add a new basement fellowship hall. On April 25, 2004, we held our first service in the newly renovated building. We praise GOD that He has permitted New Charity Baptist Church to stand for over a hundred years as a lighthouse in the Slat community and we pray that it will continue to do so until the LORD returns. At New Charity Baptist Church the door is always open where a warm and friendly reception is given to all who enter to worship the true and living GOD!
