The Victory Garden is producing. Strawberries have flourished during their first season in the garden. They are so deliciously sweet. Our Red Norland potatoes have just shown off and shown out. Ten pounds of seed potatoes have produced over 40 pounds of potatoes to be given to families in need. We still have some Yukon Gold to harvest and a third bed (I can’t remember their name😬). Our bell peppers and tomatoes are starting to produce on the bushes and vines and they are looking absolutely delicious. We are finishing up distribution of our Vidoro, Texas Sweet, and So Cal red onions and the garlic. Over 150 plants have been distributed already.

We look forward to what God has in store for the backyard grocery store at Matthew 25.

Cherry tomatoes that were just planted have come to fruition. Potato plants are blooming and producing tubers. A fruitless lemon tree suddenly has fruit. The limes will soon be ready. Even the orange tree is showing new growth and getting ready to develop fruit.

The garden reminds me of life in Christ. There is new life when seeds are planted and watered and they prepare for harvest. A long time believer who failed to bear fruit gets fertilized and placed fully in the sonlight only to develop new growth and begin to bear fruit. Some believers are like plants that allow their leaves to shrivel and are ready to die but with the right touch, the right care, a little pruning, new enriched soil, they spring back to life.

Is your faith struggling? Are you missing out on the sonlight, fertile soil, nurturing, and care? It could be time to get planted in the right soil, in a bigger pot, trim off the old life and allow the new life in Christ to flourish. It is time for frequent watering and regular feeding. It is time to remove the weeds from your garden beds.

Return to Christ, read your Bible, get in fellowship with the right church and small group, tend your garden to keep it healthy and help others better tend their garden.

Matthew 13:3b - 9

“Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”

Debbie Smith was a faithful supporter of Forest Park Ministry Center / Love Loud Montgomery. Our hearts and prayers are with Pete their sons, and church family in her earthly loss. We look forward to seeing her again and hearing her one-of-a-kind laughter and seeing her beautiful smile when we all get to heaven.

Celebrate the life of Debbie Smith, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Leak Memory Chapel.

Love Loud Montgomery thanks the The Sunrise Rotary Club for their generous grant award toward a greenhouse for the Victory garden, our Backyard Grocery Store.

The greenhouse will allow fruits and vegetables to be grown through extended seasons and assisting families in need throughout the River Region to be one step closer to being free of food insecurity.

Three varieties of onions were harvested today and positioned to cure on the rack until ready to go home with our guests.

Our citrus trees are flowering and fruiting. We will soon have lemons, limes, and Satsuma oranges.

Matthew 25’s missionary volunteers wrapped up a busy year, serving families with food and clothes and then met at the MBA office to celebrate the birth of our Christ together. Director of Missions Neal Hughes welcomed our missionaries, shared a moving devotional, and a prayer. Carl MacCarthy worked tirously preparing, I mean coordinating a delicious meal from Gail’s Down the Street. Telissa served as a great hostess ensuring everyone had their meal and drinks. Thanks to everyone that made today and this year a great success.
