The classroom was much quieter this Labor Day week than it has been for many years. This was usually the first week of preschool, with lots of excitement (and some uncertainty), as the kids said good-bye to their families and started to get to know their teachers and classmates. Instead of working on the bulletin boards and placing each student’s name on the bins, the teachers were packing boxes and helping to transition the room for a new ministry (Children’s Church) to move into the space. After 21 years of serving preschool-aged children and their families, St. Olaf had to make the tough decision to close the preschool. Although we are sad to see the preschool years come to an end, we feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to play a part in the lives of these special children and families. We hope we played an integral part of preparing them for kindergarten and beyond, but most importantly we hope they left St. Olaf knowing how much God loves each and every one of them. We have been praying for all of our former students and hope that they are thriving and having a great start to the year in their new schools!
