Woo hoo!

This Sunday in our Fellowship Hall, we will welcome the Chuck Nation Band for our Bluegrass Mass entitled, "Come Away to the Skies: A High Lonesome Mass." This service will combine the sounds of bluegrass Appalachia with the ancient tradition of the Holy Communion service! Make plans to arrive during the Sunday school hour (8:45 a.m.) for a special pre-service warmup. This will be a service like none before, and we're excited to experience it with you!

We can't wait to welcome Rev. Dr. Kitsy Dixon at FUMC! See you Sunday.

This Sunday, we are excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Kitsy Dixon with a reception at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. in the Epworth Room. Dr. Dixon is an Associate Pastor and provisional Elder in the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference. She will be ordained at Annual Conference on June 9 in Pensacola. That service will be livestreamed. Dr. Dixon is a native of Mississippi and is a graduate of Ole Miss where she received a Journalism Degree. She moved to New York City to pursue studies in Theater and Dance. She went on to complete a Master’s Degree in American Studies and a Doctorate Degree in Medical Humanities. Sensing God’s call in her life to pursue pastoral ministry, she went on to complete her M.Div. Degree. Through prayer and discernment, she decided to return to the South. Dr. Dixon has had a variety of ministry experiences, ranging from pastoral care, working with the homeless, ministering to persons experiencing crisis and trauma through victimization, as well as caring for persons who are imprisoned. She comes to FUMC from Spanish Fort UMC, where she served as an Associate Minister. Prior to that appointment, Dr. Dixon served in West Alabama at St. Matthew UMC in Akron, Jackson Chapel UMC in Sawyerville, and St. Paul UMC in Eutaw. During the Sunday School hour (beginning at 9:00 a.m.) on June 15, in the Epworth Room, you will have a chance to hear from Dr. Dixon and get to know her better as the newest member of our clergy team. We are elated to have her joining our staff!

What fun we had today learning to play Mahjong together in the 50 PLUS lounge!

Ginnie is such a good teacher — and it made my heart happy to see all of these lovely ladies enjoying themselves in the not-quite-yet-open (but getting there step by step!) 50 PLUS Lounge. 🥰

What an honor and a privilege it will be to have a space of our own! Come to the official ribbon cutting on Sunday, June 8 following worship for a brief celebration and a moment of thanks (popcorn, cookies and coffee served). 🍿 🍪 ☕️
