The final session of the SBC Annual Meeting concluded with a mix of business and celebration.

Tyler and Ashley Martin, church planters in Wyoming, were presented as a picture of what the North American Mission Board (NAMB) exists to support: faithful people going to places that need churches and the gospel. NAMB's broader report included a 13% increase in church plants and a record Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.

The convention formally presented its new officers of 2027, including Craig Carlisle, Associational Missionary of the Etowah Baptist Association, as first vice president. A proud moment for Alabama Baptists.

The remaining resolutions were also presented and received from the floor.

Alabama Baptist giving was behind all the reports. Thankful our team was in the room this week. To catch up on any of the Annual Meeting, check out the coverage by The Alabama Baptist newspaper.

Wednesday morning at the SBC Annual Meeting brought a full slate.

Craig Carlisle, AL Baptist and Etowah AM, was elected as first vice president of the convention. Caleb Turner brought a powerful convention sermon. The Executive Committee returned with a second report focused on disability ministries, focused on a billion people who need Christ.

Sandy Wisdom-Martin delivered what will be her final National WMU report. It was a fitting moment to acknowledge the work she has given to women's missions and the generation of faithful women she has represented well.

Send Relief brought an update on hunger and disaster response work. If you want to learn more about volunteer trips or hunger ministry, text TRIPS or HUNGER to 888-123.

The IMB closed with a story about the lengths taken to keep our missionaries safe. Our people going to the hard places aren't forgotten because of the work we support through the IMB.

Alabama Baptists' giving and partnership are a part of it all. To find out more details on these events, follow The Alabama Baptist newspaper.

Tuesday afternoon at the SBC Annual Meeting was devoted to significant business.

Seminary reports were given, including the introduction of Scott Pace as the new president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Messengers elected W***y Rice as the new SBC president. Jeff Iorg addressed the convention through the SBC Executive Committee report, carrying a straightforward and grounding message: “Baptists are a force for good.”

We’re thankful to be messengers in the room participating in the work of Southern Baptists.

The Tuesday morning SBCAM session was full.

GuideStone brought encouraging updates: start well grant, ministerial salary guidance, and continued momentum in Mission Dignity, the program serving retired ministers and their families who gave so much with so little.

Messengers welcomed a new ERLC president (introduced by outgoing AL Baptist Gary Hollingsworth), a new Lifeway President Ryan Blackwell, and celebrated a sending service with the IMB (including three being sent from AL).

One of the more meaningful moments: a gift honoring Dr. Barry McCarty, who has served as parliamentarian for Southern Baptist meetings for decades. Few people have shaped how the convention conducts its business with more care and consistency than he has.

Dr. Clint Pressley also addressed the convention with some practical guidance on walking worthy of our callings.

Grateful to be in the room. More to come.

Pilgrim Home Baptist Church dedicated their new multipurpose building to the Lord debt free.

This is what faithful stewardship looks like across generations: members who gave consistently, others who invested in something they'd never personally see completed, and a church family that walked into a new facility with no debt burden.

We are honored to partner alongside Pilgrim Home Baptist Church through this journey. To God be all the glory.

Did You Know? The 1940 Alabama Baptist Convention voted to create a corporate agency to encourage, receive, and administer trust gifts for denominational causes. 85 years later, TBFA serves Alabama Baptist churches, ministries, and families across nine service lines. Thank you for being a part of this story of more resources for more ministry.

Most churches have money sitting somewhere: a building fund, a reserve account, a memorial gift waiting on a project. The question: Is there something more that can be done with it?

Jason was at Calvary baptist prattville this week, sharing about investments through TBFA - biblically responsible and kingdom-impacting funds. Thanks to Pastor Mike Watts and Calvary!

Reach out to us anytime, and we'll come to you to do the same. More resources for more ministry.

For the Alabama Baptist Convention this year, the director of Shocco Springs, Russell Klinner, had the idea to do a collaborative video between The Baptist Foundation of Alabama, Shocco Springs, and the Alabama Baptist Children's Home. We decided to share the story of the origins of ABCH’s annual Camp of Champions event. Every year, ABCH takes over Shocco Springs for a weekend and invites foster families (1100 people strong) to come enjoy the amenities at the conference center. Many of the foster kids from hard places have never seen God’s creation like that. The parents get training, counseling, and community with other foster families. It is a unique and wonderful event.

But it all started when TBFA’s president, Warren Trussell, was at Shocco in the early 1990s and observed a group from the TN Baptist Childrens Homes have a small gathering like Camp. He told Paul Miller, the head of ABCH then about it. Warren also told Paul that TBFA had an unused trust (left by a couple that TBFA helped plan) for an Alabama Baptist Camp for kids. That fund allowed for the first ever camp, and it continues to fund Camp today.

We are grateful that the Lord has allowed our three ministries to collaborate to generate a bigger Kingdom impact than any of us could have done on our own. Thank you for all you are doing to continue this legacy of impact today.
