This Sunday at 10:00 AM we will worship together as Rev. Lucas Tribble gives his farewell sermon entitled, “All the Emotions,” which is sure to hit home with us all. Receptions honoring the Tribble family will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 8:30 AM and immediately following worship.

We will laugh and cry as we celebrate the lasting mark Lucas, Sarah Beth, Bradford, and Sawyer have left on our lives. The Tribble family will begin their next chapter in Enterprise, AL, where Lucas will be appointed as the Senior Minister of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Through many different seasons, Lucas has led with grace, compassion, wisdom, joy, and an unwavering love for church and community. He is a friend to all and, as Dr. Cooper said, has a unique way of bringing people together.

While our hearts are heavy to say farewell, they are also full of gratitude for the honor of serving alongside the Tribble family. Their ministry is forever woven into the story of FUMC, and we are incredibly grateful. We cannot wait to see how God continues to work through this family in the years ahead.

We have so much to celebrate and give thanks for from the 2026 AWFUMC Annual Conference: Empowered by the Spirit!

Sue Bell Cobb received the Clara Esther Award for Justice and Equality. Mary Catherine Philips was named Communication Director of the Year for the entire denomination—the second time she has been recognized by our denomination! Marisa Mayes received her first-time license for pastoral ministry, and Katy Pass was commissioned as a provisional elder. Lucas Tribble was recognized as the very first recipient of the Rev. Frederick Outlaw Evangelism Award.

We are especially proud of our youth who served and represented our congregation so well throughout the week, including Riley Godwin, Sarah Elizabeth Philips, and Anna McWilliams. Riley also attended the Candler School of Theology luncheon, a wonderful opportunity for learning and connection.

We celebrate Dr. Cooper’s leadership in representing the Black Church Renewal Task Force, which will now become a permanent part of our Annual Conference. He also helped launch the capital campaign for Teaming with Tanzania, taking exciting steps toward a new campus for Wesley College and City Center Church, with whom our own congregation has a strong relationship.

We also rejoiced as Bishop Holston recognized Bishop Lawson Bryan and Sherrill Bryan, who celebrated 53 years of marriage during Annual Conference. Bishop Bryan participated in the service of ordination and commissioning and was later quoted on the conference floor for his commitment to apportionment giving as an expression of our shared covenant and mission.

Finally, we give thanks that our congregation continues to lead faithfully by paying 100% of our apportionments, even in challenging times. Together, we celebrate these accomplishments, these callings, and the many ways God is moving among us.

To God be the glory!

Vacation Bible School 2026 is officially in the books, and we're already looking forward to next year!

Our hearts are full of gratitude for every child, parent, volunteer, and leader who brought so much life, laughter, and learning to our church campus this week. What a joy it was to grow together as we discovered how to see God in our families, our neighbors, nature, and all around us each day! 🐸🦋🦎
