Rest in peace, Rev. Jesse Jackson

Freemason & Civil rights activist, Reverend Jesse Jackson, has reportedly died.

Born in 1941, Jackson was a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, working alongside Martin Luther King Jr. before founding PUSH (People United to Serve Humanity) and the Rainbow Coalition.

He was a member of the Prince Hall Freemasonry (Harmony Lodge No. 88 in Chicago).

Prior to his passing, he had been hospitalized in Chicago for a rare neurological condition, progressive supranuclear palsy, in November 2025.

Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will celebrate the opening of its Black History Museum located inside of its Fellowship Hall at 3100 Old Wetumpka Hwy. Montgomery, Al. The Museum Opening Program is at 12:00 Noon, Sunday, October 9, 2022 in the Fellowship Hall. The “Renaissance Museum” honors the memory and legacies of three lifelong church members and pioneer health care providers: Dr. Hegalyn Seay Wilson Ferguson, MD, Dr. John H. Winston, Jr., MD and Mrs. Julia Lee Marshall Hendricks, Midwife. The Museum will feature artifacts of Black inventors, books, publications, relics, noted accomplishments, etc. The public is invited to attend.
