The Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation is sponsoring a three-date series of piano benefit concerts featuring Randall Atcheson. There is no charge to attend the concerts. Please join us for an exciting and entertaining evening of music at any of the three locations!

Sunday, February 12 at Dothan (AL) First United Methodist Church, 3 pm.

Monday, February 13 at Opelika (AL) First United Methodist Church, 6 pm.

Tuesday, February 14 at Shalimar (FL) First United Methodist Church, 7 pm.

The Stegall Seminary Scholarship Endowment Foundation annually presents a “Spirit of the Foundation” award to honor a donor(s) who has shown faithful commitment to the mission of the foundation. The 2022 recipients of this award are Ginny and Eddie Adair of Montgomery, Ala.

Ginny and Eddie are natives of Birmingham, but moved to Montgomery in the 1970s as Eddie later became the President and Chief Operating Office of Durr Fillauer. In recognition of the great leadership he has given within the corporate community, he was named by the University of Alabama to their “Business Hall of Fame.” Together they have two children, Charlie and Emily, and five grandchildren.

Long before the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation came into existence in 2007, a small group of men and women at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery began meeting in the 1980s to support seminary students. That faithful group, which would help to launch the foundation, included Ginny and Eddie.

There is a saying, “We stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us.” The success of the Stegall Foundation over the past 15 years can be credited to many humble individuals, just like the Adairs. Thank you to Ginny and Eddie for your many years of faithful support!

The Stegall Foundation annually presents a “Church of The Year Award” to honor a church showing faithful commitment to the mission of the foundation. The 2022 recipient of this award is Stewart United Methodist Church in Hale County, Alabama. Stewart UMC was founded in 1884 when a farming couple, Charles and Sarah Stewart, donated an acre of land on which to build a church. Since that one room church was founded, the faithful members at Stewart have expanded and now have a beautiful fellowship hall.

Stewart has a heart for missions at home and around the world. They have built homes for Habitat for Humanity, and provided furnishings for a church in Honduras. They have sent mission teams to the Henderson Settlement in Kentucky and to the Hinton Rural Life Center in North Carolina.

Since the inception of our scholarship foundation in 2007, this small membership church has ranked among the top 10 churches within the entire Alabama-West Florida Conference in their financial support of our seminary students. Their strong pastor, Rev. Michael Cobb, has provided strong leadership for this mission-minded church. The board of directors is delighted to recognize the Stewart United Methodist Church!

At our 15th Anniversary "Dinner of Celebration" The Stegall Seminary Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors inaugurated a “Bishop Paul A. Duffey, Sr. Award” for Clergy Excellence. The award will be presented annually to one our many former scholarship recipients serving in ordained ministry who exemplifies the excellence with which Bishop Paul Duffey served the church. The inaugural award was presented to Dr. David R. Saliba. The Rev. Dr. David R. Saliba is in his first year as Senior Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Dothan, AL. He has served Perdido Bay United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church in Greenville, AL, and First United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL. David is pictured with his partner in life and ministry, Elizabeth Saliba, and together they have three beautiful children, Joseph, age 8, Grace, age 5, and Jacob, age 1. David’s 16 years of ministry in the United Methodist Church has included many new professions of faith, and he has led the congregations which he has served to grow in worship attendance, membership, missional outreach, campus facilities, and faith development. His greatest desire in ministry is to help the church achieve its mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Congratulations to David!

On Thursday, August 11 supporters and students gathered to celebrate 15 years of the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Endowment Foundation. Through the generosity of our donors, over $5 million in cash scholarships has been awarded to students during those years! Over the next few days we will share more from the dinner of celebration, including honoring those who were recognized with special awards. Thank you for supporting the mission of the Stegall Foundation through your prayers and donations!
