This morning, a hardworking CTS crew gathered for a big project: cleaning out our shed! We had equipment and tools that were no longer of use to us that needed to find new homes, and we wanted to reorganize so that we can offer more space to the Montgomery Village farmer's market, which we host on our property.

With two and a half hours of hard work, and lots of laughter and fellowship, we now have a beautiful spacious shed so we can garden and maintain our property with ease!

Tonight is the Great Vigil of Easter, and we need to be together, now more than ever.

We imagine how Jesus' disciples felt on this night. Reeling from his gruesome death the day before, they probably did not sleep. Instead, they likely sat awake together and shared stories, hopes, fears, and plans. Maybe they cried, maybe they sat in stunned silence. Maybe they found comfort lighting a candle together.

They were afraid for their future, and they sat together. They were worried about what the world's leaders might do, and they sat together. They were deep in grief, and they sat together. They remembered and hoped for God's promised resurrection. And they sat and waited. Together.

Does that sound like it could be us, today? It needs to be us.

Tonight, we need you more than ever. We are a community called to remember what it means to wait for God's promises. We are scared. We are hopeful. We are hurt and lonely and anxious. We need to be together.

Don't wait for Easter Sunday. Tonight, at 7:30 at 9801 Centerway Road, we gather and do as the disciples did. Come and see.

As we continue our journey through Holy Week into Easter, we pray for all those who we will welcome through our doors for our remaining services. One of the most important things we can do to build a strong faith family that is diverse and long-lasting is to invite a friend to church!

Whether you are a long-time CTS member or will be meeting us for the first time this week, please bring someone with you to celebrate Jesus' resurrection. Our church looks like us, and like those who we bring with us... so invite the community you would like to see!

What do you want church to look like, and how can you make that a reality in the people you invite?

If you are following along with our Holy Week BINGO card, one of your squares involves bringing a food donation for Gaithersburg HELP! We collect donations for this beloved local food pantry every single week. When you come to church this week, bring a food from this list with you!

We invite you to join us for Holy Week and Easter at Christ the Servant in a week or contemplation, community, and spiritual growth. 🌱

We have twelve beautiful services between Palm Sunday and Easter, each one providing a different tradition or experience for you to engage with. And to help add a little fun to this sacred season, we've included a Holy Week BINGO card to track all the service elements. We hope you will fill as much of the card as you can, and tell us what you think.

The journey continues on March 29. See you there!

Many of us are carrying a quiet (or not-so-quiet) grief about the state of our world. We see injustice. We feel division. We worry about the future. We long for a more compassionate world.

Lent begins in exactly that place.

In the Christian tradition, Lent is a 40-day season of reflection and renewal that leads to Easter. It is rooted in the story of Jesus’ time in the wilderness, a time of struggle and clarity before he began his public work of healing and justice. At its heart, Lent asks a simple but demanding question:

What needs to change in me so that the world can change through us?

At its best, the church is not a club for those with all the answers. It is a community of people asking honest questions and learning how to live with deeper love and justice.

You do not have to sign a doctrinal statement at the door. You do not have to silence your doubts. Simply showing up is enough.

Walking through the door is an act of courage.

Join us this Lent on Sundays at 9:30am and Wednesdays at 7:30pm, starting this Wednesday 2/18. Let's plant the seeds of change together.

Last Sunday, after a joyful party the night before, we took time during the service to bless our long time member Polly as she prepares for a move to another state. She will be so dearly missed within our community, but her presence will be remembered and felt among us for a long time to come. And we hope, Polly, that you will come back and visit!

At Christ the Servant, we understand that the church can be present for all of life's milestones. "Liturgy" is the "work of the people", which we express during our worship--and every life is different.

That's why we find ways to develop liturgy that reflects all the facets of our unique lives. We have used services to celebrate the life of a beloved pet, the celebration of a new name, a graduation or career change, a move to a new community, and so much more.

In these difficult times, it is more and more important that we celebrate together, grieve together, and everything in between. How can CTS be present for you in the important events of your life? Come and see!

Check out the top right for our pastor and bishop!

Yesterday, a number of our pastors, deacons, candidates for ministry, and others gathered in person and in spirit to engage in public witness (and good trouble), joining other faith communities and faith-based organizations to protest funding for ICE.
