Here's your Weekend Roundup for Sunday, August 9, 2026: Good morning! I hope to see you in church later on today. It is the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost in our liturgical calendar! The Scripture Readings for today come from 1 Kings 19:9-18 and Matthew 14:22-33. These texts will complement each other as examples of how "there can be miracles, when you believe". The preceding quote is from a certain late '90s biblical movie. We will talk about that today. After service, there will be a board meeting. Next Sunday, there will be Coffee Hour after service! As always, be in prayer for the Montgomery City Christian Church congregation, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America, and our beloved denomination, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)! Here is your Friday Forward for July 24th, 2026: The Montgomery County Fair will reach its conclusion tomorrow! We are grateful to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America for the generosity needed to advance God's Realm here on Earth! On this Ninth Sunday after Pentecost, the scripture readings are Romans 8:26-39 and Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52. The hint of the sermon is down below of what this particular movie has to do with the Parable of the Mustard Seed, and also the concept of how the love of Christ is unshakable. Please continue to pray for the Montgomery City Christian Church and its members, the congregations of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America and all of the congregations of our beloved denomination, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)! Here's your Friday Forward for July 17th, 2026: The life of the church can be so busy, but through that, we do believe that God will always be at work alongside us. As we hear the Gospel Lesson of Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43, we are reminded that we are together and grown together through God. We are also reminded that we shouldn't suddenly "write someone off" because someone doesn't fit our bias of what it means to be a part of God’s Realm here on Earth. The song, "Another Day In Paradise" by Phil Collins, puts this into perspective from an economic standpoint. A woman who was down on hard times wanted a hand. A person just ignored her request, leading to her embarrassment. The person "wrote her off" as beyond help. The singer says to think twice before shunning someone who has the potential to be more with a helping hand. We have the opportunity to grow together. Thanks be to God for that. In other news, the Montgomery County Fair is this Monday, July 20th and runs through Saturday, July 25th. The parade will be Tuesday, July 21st. Coffee Hour will be Sunday following service. Please keep people of our congregation, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America Region and other congregations in our Region, the other 30 regions and their congregations, and our beloved denomination, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), all in your prayers! May we have a great worship experience on the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost this Sunday! See you in church!

Here's your Friday Forward for July 10, 2026: Hello from the 2026 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)! I am at a local gathering site here in South St. Louis County! There will be business items to vote on for this Assembly! A report will be read this upcoming Sunday at the church! The board meeting will be this upcoming Sunday after service. Coffee Hour will be next Sunday following service. The Montgomery County Fair will be July 20-25! The text for this upcoming Sunday will be from Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 and Isaiah 55:10-13. I hope to see you on Sunday.

Here's your Friday Forward for July 3, 2026: Greetings from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! I was here for Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) 227th General Assembly, which concluded yesterday. The General Minister and President, Rev. Terri Hord Owens, spoke to the Assembly on Tuesday regarding the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to begin dialogue between the two Mainline Protestant denominations. It is always good to see Christian unity being seen in the spotlight. But, speaking of General Assembly, the 2026 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be next Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. The delegates for Montgomery City Christian Church have been selected to represent the church as we do the work of the wider church! This upcoming Sunday, we will honor America's 250th anniversary with a worship service with Patriotic Hymns and a sermon tied to how God has blessed this country! There will also be a theme of change! The scripture readings from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost that I will be preaching on will be Zechariah 9:9-12 and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30. I hope to see you all in church on Sunday!

Here's your Friday Forward for June 26th, 2026: This upcoming Sunday will be General Assembly Sunday for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)! Every congregation a part of this movement will pray for the gathering of Disciples all across the country and Canada which will take place on July 10-11. Delegates who want to sign up for the Assembly and represent our church have until the end of the month to do it! Also, the Disciples Women of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America will have their meeting tomorrow, June 27th, at 9:00 AM on Zoom! Our worship service to honor the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America will be Sunday, July 5th at 10:15 AM! Patriotic hymns will be sung along with a sermon that will connect to how God has blessed us! Pastor Isaiah will be away this upcoming Sunday, June 28th. The selected text for the week, which comes from the Revised Common Lectionary, is the Gospel Lesson in Matthew 10:40-42. I hope that you all have a great week!

Good Tuesday morning! I hope that the weekend has treated you very well!
