A windy 💨 pre-thunderstorm 🌧️ afternoon to everyone! This is the 3rd of my summer sign series on the Book of Proverbs. There are other good Proverbs about dads 🦸‍♂️ but this is the one that I chose based upon verse length as well as, of course, being the joyful father of 3 righteous children! Good afternoon from MN! Here is the 2nd of my summer sign series on the Book of Proverbs. [No, they are not linked to my summer sermon series!] Lots of excellent Proverbs -- too bad, though, that 1) some are too long for my sign and 2) there aren't 800+ weeks available for me to do new signs -- unless I change my sign every day! Well, it's that time of the year again! The Summer months seem like a nice time to do a sign series of something, doesn't it?! I've done some in past summers (e.g., Psalms, Luther quotes, etc.) and decided to try it again this summer. There are about 800 Proverbs in the Book of Proverbs according to Uncle Google. My eldest daughter and I read thru them all a couple of times and we chose 12 that would seem to work -- based on content and length -- for June thru Labor Day, minus 2 specialized signs that I'll need to do. Here is my 1st one. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on my series, OK?! Hello to everyone on this warm (87 degree!) Tuesday afternoon! ☀️ Holy Trinity Sunday is the next occasion in the church year for us to celebrate! The existence of the Trinity is, of course, taught in both the Old and New Testaments, as I'm sure that you all know. What I wrote before still stands: "Let's reach out to the families of the deceased with John 15:13 and other Bible passages, as may fit their situation." Well this hasn't happened to me before -- last week I put up my Memorial Day sign a week early! I was so busy doing so many things getting ready to officiate at an out-of-state funeral that I spaced out which Sunday that I was doing the sign for! Oh well -- I returned to MN and fixed the problem. 2moro is Recognition Sunday for SJ's; I listed the 4 groups whom we will be recognizing and honoring after our potluck luncheon. Sometime after 2moro and b4 Memorial Day, I'll change my sign back again. Sorry that I'm sometimes a Space Cadet! Perhaps my calling is to be an astronaut instead of a pastor?! HA! While I know that many of us have lost relatives and friends over the years in the many wars that our country has fought, we have that day -- which began on May 30th, 1868 -- coming up that's been set aside to remember and honor those who didn't return from battle. Many of us remember and honor them year-round which is also proper and respectful, of course. Another great afternoon -- 74 degrees, sunny ☀️, no wind 💨, very little humidity 💦! Several Bible verses refer to mothers in various ways -- and we see that there are 36 mothers who are specifically named in the Bible + numerous others mentioned but no names are given. I wish that we knew their names, too! One day we'll know them! This Sunday: go to church -- give thanks -- call your moms if they are still with us! Blessings to you all! ✝ ⛪️ 🌻 🍨 🙂
