As a congregational church we are responsible for charting our own future. And we are called upon to cast our vote when important decisions need to be made. On Sunday, June 7th, immediately following worship, we will gather for a brief meeting to share updates and make decisions important to our Church family.

Please join us for a vote on our budget and upcoming slate of officers as well as information on our finances, MMO (FCC's preschool), and our plans to move forward in growth and progress. We look forward to sharing and discussing all of this with you!

At a Congregational Meeting, only church members may vote, but we welcome ALL interested friends of the church to attend. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Faithfully,
Elaine Wells, Moderator

This Climate Action Assembly will feature two presentations. First, members of Wellesley Village Church will share about how they replaced their oil-fired HVAC system with a geothermal system that will reduce the church’s overall greenhouse gas emissions by 75% as they continue on the path toward
net-zero emissions.

Second, Rev. John Rogers of First Congregational Church of Montclair, New Jersey will share about a program of international solidarity centered around the climate leaders in the Mayan communities of Belize.

Find a peaceful break in the middle of a busy day. At its most basic level the labyrinth is a metaphor for our spiritual journey where our souls are opened to meet God on the path as well. This is an open, unstructured spiritual walk, no experience necessary -- beginners are more than welcome. Come take your soul out for a walk each Wednesday!11am-1pm. All are welcome.

Dear FCC family,

As you may know, our neighbors detained at the Delaney Hall detention center have been on a hunger strike since Friday to protest the inhumane conditions under which they are being held. Faith leaders from New Jersey and New York have joined other advocates in supporting the hunger strikers and their families by keeping a presence outside the for-profit run ICE camp around the clock.

We are writing to ask you to support these immigrant neighbors in any of the following ways if you are able:
Help drive faith leaders from the Newark train station to the Delaney Hall for their shifts (the New Yorkers mostly don’t have cars). If you can help with this, reach out to Nia on Signal or regular text at 917-272-5174. (Please do not call as calls are harder to manage.)
Join us at the a prayer vigil being organized at Delaney Hall tomorrow (Friday) evening at 5:30pm. The address is 451 Doremus Ave. in Newark. There is an adjacent parking lot for the county jail that you can use. There is also some street parking.
Offer financial support by donating to the mutual aid organizers on the ground (Venmo: ).
I will be at the vigil tomorrow night.

Delaney Hall is run by the notorious Geo Group. Detainees report that the food is inadequate, often rotten and infested with worms, and the people are denied urgently needed medical care. Although the basic conditions of confinement are inhumane, the hunger strike is focused on the even bigger structural injustices – the lack of due process, the disregard for court orders and refusal to honor people’s legal cases.

Participants in the strike are calling for:
An immediate in-person meeting with NJ Governor Mikie Sherrill at Delaney Hall to directly observe conditions and hear testimony from detained individuals
The immediate release of vulnerable detainees, including elderly individuals, pregnant
women, young people, pregnant women and those with serious medical conditions.
Meaningful review of immigration cases and habeas filings
An end to what they describe as coercive pressure to sign deportation or voluntary
departure documents.
ICE and Geo have retaliated against the hunger strikers by canceling family visitation, transferring and threatening to transfer people to detention centers far away, denying access to communication, and more. The people inside, however, have told us to keep the pressure on. Let's do our part to keep the spotlight shining on these human rights abuses and amplifying the hunger strikers’ demands.

Please help in whatever ways you can.

In Solidarity,

Rev. John and Rev. Benz
