Trust in the slow work of God –

The "slow work of grace" is a theological concept emphasizing trust in God’s gradual, patient, and often unseen transformation of lives, rather than immediate results. Popularized by Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, this philosophy encourages surrendering to divine timing, accepting stages of instability, and allowing spiritual growth to mature without forced haste.

Key aspects of the slow work of grace include:
Trusting the Process: It involves recognizing that spiritual growth requires passing through periods of instability and not forcing premature outcomes.

Divine Timing: God’s work is often patient, allowing time for healing and growth, as seen in biblical narratives where promises took years to fulfill.

Transformation over Speed: Grace is a, gentle, steady, and sometimes painful process that transforms individuals, much like a river that begins as a trickle.

Surrender: It invites individuals to release the need for instant gratification, letting go of the pressure to control outcomes.

This perspective reminds believers that what appears to be waiting is often preparation, and God is actively working even when nothing seems to be happening.

Slowing Down Involves Submitting Control To God:

WEEK 3 Slowing Down Involves Submitting Control To God!

Goal: Training my BODY to release controlling habits and thoughts, submitting them to God so that I might experience his divine peace, confidence and favor. (James 4:7-8)

Why? Because submission is not learned by ideas alone. It is trained through embodied practice. This week is about developing these 3 submission habits:

1. The Pause Prayer:
Three times daily: “God, you are God. I am not. I trust you.”

2. Relinquishment Exercise:
Once per day:
Notice where you are trying to dominate:
• conversation
• schedule
• outcome
• perception

Whisper:
"I release this to you, God."

3. Practicing Silent Stillness (Psalm 46):
2–5 minutes:
Sit with open hands.
No fixing.
No solving.
Just surrender.

The Point:
Stillness is rehearsal for trust.
