Congratulations to our very own Trustee William "Bodie" Scott, who will receive the prestigious 2024 Thurgood Marshall Award from the Montclair N.A.A.C.P.--the chapter's highest honor. Brother Scott works tirelessly as a trustee, community leader, and advocate. He serves the Lord with all his heart and works to advance social and economic justice and equity in Montclair and beyond. He will be recognized on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the branch's 108th annual Thurgood Marshall Freedom Fund Dinner & Awards Ceremony. The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at the Hanover Manor, 16 Eagle Rock Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Please congratulate Trustee Scott and keep him and his family in your prayers. We are very much looking forward to worshipping with Union Baptist Church of Bloomfield on this coming Sunday, September 15 beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Elizabeth Campbell will be the guest preacher and the RMZ Church congregation will attend. We invite the community to come out, and join us on the streets of Montclair to support various Montclair businesses, organizations, and artists for our Parade beginning at 10:30AM on the corner of Maple and Bloomfield Avenue!
Also, this year immediately following the parade at the grand stand , we are having a battle of the bands between 4 New Jersey High School Marching Bands, a finale you do not want to miss!! And of course, prior to that, we have our talented Drums of Thunder performing.
The parade is rain or shine , but the festival rain date is Sunday, June 2nd.
The Parade Route :
1. Starting point: Maple Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue
2. The parade will turn left onto Bloomfield avenue headed towards Elm Street.
3. The Parade will then make a left on Elm street and proceed to Orange road.
Once the parade reaches Cedar Avenue, it will pass Cedar the first time and Veer right onto Orange road towards the South End Gardens to visit our senior residents.
The parade will then go around the bend , turning left onto Orange road towards Cedar Avenue again
4. and Finally turning Left onto Cedar where the grand stand and battle of the bands will take place.
Our festival begins at 1PM, and will feature all of the community favorites: food and merchandise vendors, a game truck, a family area with bouncy houses and more!
We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate with our Montclair community.

We are saddened to report that lifelong member Marsha Rhea McQueary passed away on Sunday, March 3 in Montclair, NJ. She was a granddaughter of Myrtle C. Bishop and James A. Jackson and her parents were Marion Jackson Rhea and Lawrence Rhea. She was a niece of our pastor, Rev. Elizabeth Campbell.🗓️ There will be a celebration of life on Friday March 15th, viewing at 10:00 a.m. and service starts at 11:00 a.m., at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, 27 Monroe Place, Montclair.
