As we journeyed through Lent, we were reminded again and again that prayer is not simply one more task in the life of a disciple. Prayer is the heartbeat of the Christian life. It roots us in God’s presence, opens our lives to
God’s sustaining love, and draws us into the life of the One who makes all things new.
The resurrection (of Christ) is God’s definitive answer to the world’s deepest prayers—
the prayer for healing,
the prayer for justice,
the prayer for peace,
the prayer for new life.
And here is the astonishing truth of Easter:
The risen Christ now invites us to become part of God’s answer...this Easter, I invite you to do more than celebrate the empty tomb. I invite you to embody it.
Where there is division—be a bridge.
Where there is fear—be a presence of peace.
Where there is injustice—be a voice for righteousness.
Where there is loneliness—be a companion.
Where there is despair—be a witness to hope.
Where there is suffering—be a sign of Christ’s healing love.
Let your life become a living Amen to the prayers of the world.

Mercy holds fast to the love of God and the grace of God until it understands the will of God. (from today's message with Pastor Parker based on Micah 6:8)

Here I am on Epiphany Sunday – Epiphany, the pinnacle of Christmas! So, I guess you could say that “Christmas is a wrap” (in more ways than one…wink). But, I’m not just referring to the date of Epiphany on Tuesday, January 6. And one of the greatest things about Epiphany is that it reminds us that Christmas is not really “over” in the sense that it marks the revelation of Jesus to/for the whole world and the start of his public ministry. And so Christmas was, and is, really just the start of better things to come. Our message from Pastor Montgomery on this Epiphany Sunday pointed out some connections between Christmas and, believe it or not, Easter:
• There was no room for Jesus at the inn, but there was plenty of room for Him on the cross.
• His birth was in a humble, lowly place. At His death, he was lifted up on a cruel cross in a forsaken place.
• A star came to brighten His birth, but the lights went out completely at His death.
• He was born in a borrowed manger, and He was buried in a borrowed tomb.

And in thinking about Christmas being a “wrap”, I can add one to the list:
• Jesus was wrapped in swaddling cloths upon His birth and wrapped in strips of linen cloths upon His death. (This one hits home with me because Jewish Temple lambs were also wrapped in swaddling cloths and so you KNOW I’m glad that Jesus came as the Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice for all mankind!)

And so just as the visit of the Wise Men (Magi) to worship the One born King of the Jews meant the beginning of the revelation of that same King as Savior of the world, this, and every, Epiphany means that even though Christmas is a “wrap,” that doesn’t mean it’s over. It’s just the start (and re-start) of our ministry in and to our community, sharing the message of our Savior, Jesus the Lamb of God, the Light of the world!

Awhhh....Eweniqua so loved our Christmas Eve Service...it was all about light...God's Light...piercing the darkness! What a joyous time! Now it's on to Epiphany, marking the visit of the Magi (Wise Men) to the young child, Jesus. Matthew 2:2 records that the Magi "saw his star in the east," followed its light to Bethlehem and were "come to worship him"....just like everyone at our Christmas Eve Service! Eweniqua even found a dear friend (Barbara Coup, picture of) who was at almost every past Christmas Eve Service for as long as we can remember, now celebrating in the Light of Eternity! Come celebrate life and light with us this Sunday at 10:30 AM!

4 Advent candles lit for Hope, Peace, Joy, Love. Where did that leave our little lamb, Eweniqua? Positioned in the best seat in the house, not way in the baack (sorry) of the sanctuary, but right up in the front of our choir loft, not seeking self-promotion, but situated so she can enjoy the sight of all who will come on Christmas Eve. Will 'ewe' be one of them? (we hope so!)

Just look where we found our little lamb, Eweniqua, on the 3rd Sunday of Advent...and no small wonder that, having taken hold of Christmas Joy, she would be planted smack dab in the middle of our Christmas tree. Or, maybe she's also trying to remind us of important truth about why Jesus came from 1 Peter 2:24: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree (cross), that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."
