St. Luke the Physician, Episcopal Church, Monrovia Sunday Services at 8 am and 10 am. Luke’s, as we invite you to join us for the Word and Sacraments that are God’s gifts to us all. It is radical and universal.

You will hear these words every week at St. It does not matter who you are, what you look like, what you have done in the past, or who you love. God’s grace is not petty; it is not earned. With that in mind, we at St. Luke’s seek to mirror God’s healing love by making this community a safe place for

skeptics, doubters, seekers, those who have been wounded by the church, those who have never darkened its doors, as well as “believers” who’ve never left. As a diverse community we have discovered in God a “oneness” greater than our differences. We have come to know that our variety reflects the divine comprehensiveness of the God of all created things. People come to church for a variety of reasons. In some subtle or profound way, the Spirit of God drew you here. “Belief” is less an issue of the head, than an issue of the heart. Our hearts are open to God and to you as well. Whether this is your first or one hundredth time worshiping with us, we hope to know you better and to make ourselves known to you. Welcome to the Congregation of St. Luke’s! Fr. Neil

"As to cultural Christianity’s biggest swinging crosses—Karoline Leavitt, Erika Kirk, etc.—it’s difficult to ignore the shameful hypocrisy. Despite getting married only after her son was born to a man who stays at home with their children (and is 30 years her senior), Ms. Leavitt repeatedly argues for a return to “traditional values” from the most powerful podium in the world. And Erika Kirk, perhaps the leading voice on traditional roles, has multiple degrees, hosts a podcast, runs multiple companies, and is now on the Board of the Air Force Academy. To be sure, while it seems like Christianity is less and less about an authentically lived faith, the tradwife movement frequently appears to be more about pursuing a viable economic and influential path to money, power, and cultural relevance."

We've got another busy Sunday at St. Luke's this week for the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost!

At 10 am, we have a guest guitar soloist joining us to perform a few pieces during the service.

After coffee hour, The Rev. Payton Hoegh will be joining us for the first of our Sunday Conversation series. We will be exploring how Christian spirituality and service are shaped by the world we live in—both the physical places we inhabit and the circumstances we face. Together, we'll consider the connections among faith, creation, community, and our response to the challenges around us.

We've got a busy Sunday at St. Luke's this week for the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost!

SLUGs is hosting our annual Aloha Sunday coffee hour this week! Tropical and colorful outfits are highly encouraged so break out your best Hawaiian shirt and bright floral prints.

After coffee hour the Rev. Dr. Francisco will lead a conversation on Sacred Resistance as a centerpiece for Christian community and what it means to walk in the way of Jesus in times of fear mongering, isolation, uncertainty, state-sanctioned violence, and abuse of power. This event will include participatory elements that allow for individual, small group, and large group engagement blending theological reflection, spiritual practices, and practical ministry tools.
