BIBLE STUDY / PRAYER GROUP
In the weeks to follow for Bible Study on Wednesdays,
we’ll be studying “Who Are We?” Starting March 4th. It is a 3 part study so we’ll
be actively doing this in the months ahead!
On Wednesday, March 18th at 3:00pm we will be on session 2.
PLEASE JOURNAL! This is an important part of the study. Please read the scriptures provided for the next session before the session we’ll be looking at.
This is a unique and excellent (!) study
written by Bishop Easterling, Baltimore Washington Conference.
Our first session today was an introduction to the overall focus of the study.
We all agreed—we had a GREAT TIME!
At 4:00pm we’ll have Prayer Group following the Bible study
for as many that can stay @ 4:00PM or a little after.
Held in fellowship hall.
ALL ARE WELCOME!
AUCTION
MAY 2, 2020
Our church will have an Auction Sale, as a fundraiser, on Saturday, May 2, 2020. The last sale of this type was held on May 20, 2017. That was a very successful one, and the net proceeds for our church were nearly $9,500. Proceeds from the upcoming sale will benefit church activities.
This is not a consignment sale – everything is to be donated. Items to donate include: handmade items; baked goods; dinners; gift certificates from local merchants and restaurants; filled baskets; piano or voice lessons; tutoring; antiques; service projects such as baby sitting; mowing; landscaping; and many more. We are looking for nice items. No large furniture, such as sofas or stuffed chairs, used TVs, wall pictures/art unless by a well-known artist, or exercise equipment. The Auction Committee reserves the right to refuse any items donated.
On Saturday, May 2, doors will open for the auction at 4:30 p.m. – auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be sandwich platters and desserts available for purchase at the Church on the Curve Café from 4:30 –close. Please save the date and start saving up items to donate. Major Credit Cards will be accepted.
Members of the Auction Sale Committee are: Marge Shiflett, Chair; Lynwood Browning; and Julie Thompson.
Upcoming Small Church Interest Group
Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 10am to 12 noon with JW Park facilitating
We are having a very important meeting coming up on Saturday, April 4, 2020. We will be discussing The Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation. This Protocol is very detailed and if it passes at the General Conference in May, 2020, each church will have some major decisions to make that may impact the future of your church.
Our meeting will be held at St. Luke U.M. Church, 350 River Road, Sykesville, MD from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and will be conducted by our District Superintendent, Rev. J.W. Park. Please attend this meeting and bring others with you so you can ask questions & better understand the implications of this Protocol. I encourage you to read about the Protocol prior to the meeting. You can go to our website, bwcumc.org or www.gracethroughseparation.com to get information.
I need to know how many of you will be attending our Small Church Interest Group meeting. So, notify Pastor DD that you will be attending and she will RSVP for you by March 23, 2020. Peace & Blessings, Lisbon U.M. Church

Be informed. The future of your church depends on your level of interest and attendance at these meetings.
As United Methodists move toward the 2020 General Conference, May 5-15 in Minneapolis, Minn., we know that many will have questions and concerns about the future of our denomination and our conference. In particular, there are specific questions about “THE PROTOCOL”
