Were You There on That Christmas Night”
Christmas Cantata - Sunday, December 20, 2020
9:30 a.m. Service

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to be there on the night Jesus was born? Have you ever thought about how that one night and that one child could change our world?

In 2014, Providence United Methodist choir presented the Christmas Cantata, "Were You There On That Christmas Night.” Natalie Mixon was our featured soloist with Abigail Mixon
on cello and Pastor Adams on the violin. This cantata was video recorded and we will be viewing this DVD at our 9:30 Worship Service on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

During this time of limited gatherings which has not let us resume our Adult Choir, we thought this would be a wonderful way to bring the joy of music to our church during this season. We
hope you will plan to join us for this service.

Upcoming Small Church Interest Group
Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 10am to 12 noon with JW Park facilitating

We are having a very important meeting coming up on Saturday, April 4, 2020. We will be discussing The Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation. This Protocol is very detailed and if it passes at the General Conference in May, 2020, each church will have some major decisions to make that may impact the future of your church.

Our meeting will be held at St. Luke U.M. Church, 350 River Road, Sykesville, MD from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and will be conducted by our District Superintendent, Rev. J.W. Park. Please attend this meeting and bring others with you so you can ask questions & better understand the implications of this Protocol. I encourage you to read about the Protocol prior to the meeting. You can go to our website, bwcumc.org or www.gracethroughseparation.com to get information.

I need to know how many of you will be attending our Small Church Interest Group meeting. So, notify Pastor DD that you will be attending and she will RSVP for you by March 23, 2020. Peace & Blessings, Lisbon U.M. Church

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Available for livestreaming is at location Glenelg U.M. Church if you are not going to Falling Waters, WVA (Bishop Easterling is also inviting the BWC to a Critical Conversation on The Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation on Saturday, March 21, from 9:30a.m.- 12 noon at Harmony UMC in Falling Waters, WVA.). The address for Glenelg UMC is 13900 Burntwoods Road, Glenelg, MD 21737. There is plenty of seating & parking at the church. Remember the viewing will be Saturday, March 21, from 9:30am - 12 noon.

If you cannot attend any of these sessions where JW Park or Bishop Easterling will be present, please read the “PROTOCOL” online to understand what Providence UMC will be voting on in the near future. Be informed. The future of your church depends on your level of interest and attendance at these meetings.
As United Methodists move toward the 2020 General Conference, May 5-15 in Minneapolis, Minn., we know that many will have questions and concerns about the future of our denomination and our conference. In particular, there are specific questions about “THE PROTOCOL”
https://www.gracethroughseparation.com/?utm_source=Special+e-connection+Critical+Conversation+on+Protocol&utm_campaign=Critical+Conversation+on+The+Protocol+March+21%2C+2020&utm_medium=email a plan that offers an end to the decades long struggle concerning human sexuality.

CHILDREN’S MONTHLY CHURCH MISSION PROJECT is
Heartly House for the month of February.
Heartly House is the only organization in Frederick County that provides comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse. They have been providing these services since 1979. Assistance is also provided to secondary victims such as family members, spouses, significant others, and sisters or brothers.
All services for survivors (hotline, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, legal advocacy and representation counseling) are offered at no charge, thanks to the generosity of individual and corporate donations, foundations, and grants (and churches).
The Heartly House location is "secret" to provide safety for the residents. Many of their needs are met solely through donations of items and cash. The February missions offering will be sent to Heartly House to help them provide items such as diapers, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, and pantry items for their "safe house".

UMCOR Relief for PUERTO RICO and AUSTRALIA
Recently, neighboring countries have been devastated by natural disasters, particularly Puerto Rico (earthquakes) and Australia (wildfires). Please prayerfully consider our hurting neighbors. Mark checks with "UMCOR" in the memo line.
