“Since you, Lord GOD, are truly God and your words are truth and you have made this generous promise to your servant, do, then, bless the house of your servant, that it may be in your presence forever—since you, Lord GOD, have promised, and by your blessing the house of your servant shall be blessed forever.” 2 Samuel 7:28-29

David is asking for God’s blessing ion his house. Little did he know that God had plans for the House of David. From that house would come the Messiah who would save all people. You should realize that this blessing took about a thousand years to be fulfilled. God works on His own time. Waith patiently for God to fulfill His promises.

And now I commend you to God and to that gracious word of his that can build you up and give you the inheritance among all who are consecrated. Acts 20:32

Paul is leaving Miletus and is saying goodbye to that community. This is close to the end of that address. Commending someone to God and to His gracious Word is a great blessing. We need to study God’s Word. But more importantly, we need to make it part of our daily lives. It needs to be our guide. What use is knowledge of Scripture if you do nothing with it?

Today at our 11:00 AM Baccalaureate Mass, we had the privilege of recognizing and praying for our graduating seniors as they prepare to begin a new chapter in their lives.

We congratulate them on their accomplishments and ask God’s blessing upon them as they pursue their future studies, careers, and vocations. May the Holy Spirit guide them, strengthen them, and keep them close to Christ wherever their journeys may lead.
