Your worth is not found in how you perform, how you look, or what you accomplish. It is found in who created you. In Psalms 139:13-16, David reminds us that God intimately formed each of us, knew us before the world did, and numbered our days. Every life, at every stage, carries divine purpose.

This Sunday, we were challenged to move beyond awareness and into action. One third of an entire generation is gone to abortion. That is not a statistic. That is a soul. A name. A face known by God before anyone else knew it.

Dear Church Family,

This Sunday, September 6, we begin Love Life Adoption Week at 11:00 a.m. A guest from Love Life will join us to share resources and information, including details about the prayer walk scheduled for Saturday. Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m., we will hold our deacon ordination service, followed by light refreshments — please bring a snack to share.

On Wednesday, September 9, we are calling the church to a fast, with a special prayer meeting at 6:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, September 12, we will join Love Life at 9:00 a.m. in Charlotte for the prayer walk.

"Sin's desire is not to have some of you, it's to have all of you. And God's desire is the same, by the way. God wants all of you. but also does sin. Sin wants to dominate your life. And Yahweh here says, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire, he says, is for you. Do you notice that sin here is spoken of as a predator? Notice the term, it's crouching at the It's ready to pounce when you open it up. And its desire is to consume you. It's spoken of similarly as we read about Satan being an adversary, being a roaring lion, sin in the same way it's at each and every one of our doors. It's knocking, and it wants you to let it in. The knock is the temptation. But when you open that door, do not think that you're going to be able to hold tight to the predator. That lion is stronger; it's bigger than you. And it will consume you if you open it up."

"Oftentimes we gather on a Sunday morning because it's custom. Because this is what we're supposed to do. We'll throw our money in the offering plate with no heart posture change. We'll sing a hymn or we'll sing a song and sometimes it brings joy if it suits our fancy. Or sometimes we'll sing because we're supposed to sing. But oftentimes we're not truly worshiping God. We're not paying attention to the words that sung. We're not paying attention to the scripture that's read. We're just doing things to be doing things. We're being busy being religious. And let me tell you something. God cares more about the heart posture than the amount that you give or the sound, however loud you can sing. God's not looking for the loudest singer. He's not looking for the best singer. He's looking for the singer who's singing out of the joy that they've experienced. They're looking for a singer who's able to sing, this is true and I'm proclaiming it. And even so here, Cain comes up and he brings a sacrifice. And how often times do we look at God and say, you ought to be happy that I came to church today. You ought to be happy that I gave some money to you today, to your church. You ought to be pleased with me today, God. I could have been at the baseball game today. I could have been at the football game. I could have been at the hunting stand today. But I chose to come to church today. God, you ought to be happy with me."

What does your worship reveal about your heart? In Genesis 4, we see two brothers bring offerings to God -- one accepted, one rejected. The difference was not the gift itself, but the heart behind it. Hebrews 11:4 tells us Abel offered by faith, and that made all the difference.

Sin crouches at the door of every heart, waiting to consume. But God, in His mercy, warns us, confronts us, and even protects the guilty. Like Cain, we are sinful and depraved -- yet God places a mark of mercy on us through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Abel's blood cried out from the ground demanding justice. Christ's blood cries out from the cross offering forgiveness. We do not come to God on our own merit. We come through the perfect, finished work of Jesus Christ.

"You know, Noah could have Built the ark and stood back and admired it. He could have believed in the ark. He could have even preached about the ark. But unless Noah and his family entered the ark, he would have perished the same. Many people, hear me clearly, admire Jesus Christ. They admire the history of the cross. They preach and even say, I believe that Jesus died and rose again. I believe He did. But they've never received that gift. They've never took a hold of Jesus Christ in repentance and faith. They're still going their own direction on their time, straight to hell."

"I'm reminded of Jesus. I am the door. If anyone enters into me, I'm going to have to slow down. Y'all ain't got no amens for that. The door of the ark is seen clearly, right? It tells us that it is the God who designed the door. It is God who shuts the door. It is God who preserves those inside the ark by closing the door. See, judgment fell around the ark, not inside the ark. The ark absorbed the storm just as Christ absorbs the wrath of God. And this is what we see. The ark is a type of Christ. One door. That is, Jesus is the only way. God shuts it. That's eternal security. And all who enters it are saved. That is, whoever will come."

"we'll see the gospel begins with the truth that we cannot save our self. Sin is not a surface problem, sin is a heart problem. And so from the very beginning, we see that salvation is shown first and foremost in that we have to see how bad we are. If you think for a moment that your goodness is sufficient, you've missed the mark."
