Prayer for Peace: Holy God of Eternal Life, today, as those who worship you through the vision of Jesus the Christ, who you anointed with your Gospel of love, we pray with heavy hearts for peace in the world. Let it be, according to your own promise. Amen.
Today’s topic: Today’s lectionary reading was supposed to be about what we call the great commission to make disciples of all nations, which I believe absolutely, as other theologians, that his command of Jesus is totally made up by whoever wrote Matthew. However, if we were to tell others in our worldly sphere what would we say that Jesus taught us, and why are his teachings important?
* Hymn:
Call to Worship – Psalm 50:1-10, 12-13, 22-23 (Responsive) (To be fair to the Truth that gender of God transcends the human body I have done my best to give female and male identities of God their due.) Leader: The mighty one, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. People: Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. Leader: Our God comes and does not keep silence, before him is a devouring fire, and a mighty tempest all around him. People: She calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that she may judge her people. Leader: “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” People: The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Leader: “Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Isreal, I will testify against you. I am God, your God. People: Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me. Leader: I will not accept a bull from your house, or goats from your folds. People: For every wild animal of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. Leader: If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and all that is in it is mine. People: Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? Leader: Mark this, then, you who forget God, or I will tear you apart, and there will be no one to deliver. ALL: Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God.”
Invocation: Pastor Bob – The journey that Christ set upon us, O God, is one of self-discovery, that is, to know who we truly are as divine children made in your image. We cannot do that without your help and encouragement, and without the strength and guidance of your Holy Will. Awaken us to your Hoy Spirit, the Holy Presence that brings power and meaning to our lives, and brings divine understanding to our hearts. Amen.
*Gloria Patri: ALL: Glor-y to the cre-a-tor, And to the Christ, and to the Ho-ly Ghost. As it was in the begin-ing, is now and ev-er shall be. World with-out end. A-men. a-men.
Special Music: “If I Needed You” by Emmy Lou Harris and Don Williams
Call to “Reflection”: (this is basically, I think, what we should always reflect on when asking for healing.) What, today, is standing in the way of our recognition of God’s love for all? What, in our lives, is fueling the estrangement that may exist between us and the Holy One? Do we even know what may be keeping us from communion with God? Do the spiritually blind know they are blind? Let us pray for clarity and forgiveness.
Prayer for Light: Shine your Truth upon the paths of our lives, O God, so we may not stumble, and so we may become beacons of light for others to follow. For the sake of your kingdom, we pray. Amen.
Words of Assurance: (John 14:19-20) ALL: “In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On “this” day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” (the Christ)
Leader: In Christ, we are forgiven and already participate in eternal life.

Memorial Day
“The border is a sacred, magnificent wall. It was drawn by the divine blood of our ancestors and must be aggressively defended against the barbarian horde” (Giuseppe Mazzini).

“The border is an imaginary line violently drawn on a map by a dead sociopath. You are aggressively brainwashing poor teenagers into blowing each other to pieces over stolen dirt” (Arthur Schopenhauer).
I would be the last one to tell anyone which of these statements rings closer to the truth. However, it is my sacred obligation to God, and my privilege, to introduce you to the Holy Spirit of Truth so that you all can, “judge for yourselves what is right,” (Jesus, Luke 12:57).
As we remember our fallen heroes who have, in their hearts, laid down their priceless lives for their families, loved ones, and their fellow combatants, let us strive for goodwill and peace on earth, as it “is” in heaven.
Join us this Sunday, the 24th, for the celebration of the gift of the awareness of the Holy Spirit, this day we call, Pentecost.

Prayer for Peace: Holy God of Eternal Life, today, as those who worship you through the vision of Jesus the Christ, who you anointed with your Gospel of love, we pray with heavy hearts for peace in the world. Let it be, according to your own promise. Amen.
Today’s topic: Where does the Holy Spirit originate and who has it? Can it be controlled or manipulated, and if so, how?
* Hymn:
Call to Worship – Psalm 104:24-34, 35b (Responsive) (To be fair to the Truth that gender of God transcends the human body I have done my best to give female and male identities of God their due.) Leader: O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all, the earth is full of your creatures. People: Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great. Leader: There go the ships, and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it. People: These all look to you to give them their food in due season; Leader: when you give to them, they gather up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. People: When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. Leader: When you send forth your Spirit they are created; and you renew the face of the ground. People: May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works Leader: who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; ALL: I will sing praise to my God while I have being. May my meditation be pleasing to her, for I rejoice in the Lord. Bless the Lord O my soul. Praise the Lord!
Invocation: Pastor Bob –Awaken your love for all creation in us this day, O God, and let us not lose sight of the power and meaning of life you have planted in our hearts. Teach us over and over again, as children learning to walk, your will for our lives, and quicken our hearts in your presence. Help us to remember you in our very souls. In our deep need for you we pray. Amen.

Do the spiritually blind know they are blind? Let us pray for clarity and forgiveness.
Prayer for Light: As we remember those who have gone before us and who have laid down their priceless and God given precious lives, heal us, of the lust for empire and power, for the rings of gold and pagan trophies that cost millions of lives. Help us to know the real power in just being your children who have been gifted with self-awareness and the bliss of divine love. Save us from the darkness that sneaks up on us from the depths of our blind anxiousness and fear of the unknown. Comfort us, O God, and assure us of our worthiness in your eternal life. Amen.

“And it came to pass when man commenced to multiply upon the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the benei elokim saw the daughters of man when they were beautifying themselves, and they took for themselves wives from whomever they chose. And the L‑rd said, ‘Let My spirit not quarrel forever concerning man, because he is also flesh, and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.’ The nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the benei elokim would come to the daughters of man, and they would bear for them; they are the mighty men, who were of old, the men of renown” (Genesis 6:1–4, NJPS) Chabad.org.
Literal meaning: Anshei shem (אֲנֵשֵׁי שֵׁם) literally means “men of names” or “men of words,” suggesting individuals whose reputations or public influence were notable ravkooktorah.org+1.

I wanted you to remember your Old Testament for a bit as it is where we first run into the idea of knowing a name. Some mystic Jews say this passage refers to, the men of the name, as those who the name of God. Jesus says that know the name of God refers to eternal life, so lets talk about what's in a name and for that matter, what is eternal life?

Prayer for Peace: Holy God of Eternal Life, today, as those who worship you through the vision of Jesus the Christ, who you anointed with your Gospel of love, we pray with heavy hearts for peace in the world. Let it be, according to your own promise. Amen.
Today’s topic: When will the kingdom come, and what exactly does that question even mean, what doe it refer to. The answer to these questions takes a little time to, not only find, but to understand with our hearts. But let’s start with this idea, that all the wise have stated in one way or another, it takes time to find the answers and when they are understood, we experience the second coming of Christ and the already present kingdom of God. “It takes a little time to make it real fine…..”
* Hymn:
Call to Worship – Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35 (Responsive) (To be fair to the Truth that gender of God transcends the human body I have done my best to give female and male identities of God their due.) Leader: Let God rise up, let his enemies be scattered; let those who hate him flee before him. People: As smoke is driven away, so drive them away, as wax melts before the fire, let the wicked perish before God. Leader: But let the righteous be joyful; let them exult before God; let them be jubilant with joy. People: Sing to God, sing praises to her name; cast up a highway for her who rides through the deserts – God’s name is the Lord – be exultant before her. Leader: Father of orphans and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. People: God gave the desolate a home to live in; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious live in a parched land. Leader: O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness, People: the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain at the presence of God, the God of Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel. Leader: Rain in abundance, O God, you showered abroad; you restored your heritage when it languished; People: your flock found a dwelling in it; in your goodness, O God, you provided for the needy. Leader: Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth; sing praises to the Lord, People: O rider in the heavens, the ancient heavens; listen, she sends out her voice, her mighty voice. Leader: Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel; and whose power is in the skies. ALL: Awesome is God from your sanctuary, the God of Israel; he give power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!
Invocation: Pastor Bob –God of the promise, the promise of peace that passes all understanding, the promise of eternal life, life that is free from delusion and misunderstanding, life filled with compassion and forgiveness. How long before we taste the blessings of this promise and what do we need to learn before we can? Be with us this day and whisper your secrets, with your voice of creation, into our hearts and awaken us from our sleep of blindness. As our loving God, we pray to you. Amen.
*Gloria Patri: ALL: Glor-y to the cre-a-tor, And to the Christ, and to the Ho-ly Ghost. As it was in the begin-ing, is now and ev-er shall be. World with-out end. A-men. a-men.

Do the spiritually blind know they are blind? Let us pray for clarity and forgiveness.
Prayer for Light: What can we do for kingdom of peace to become more of a reality, O God? Are we getting in the way, somehow, in a manner we cannot see without your help, or are we even some of those who are responsible for injustice and inequity in our world. Reveal to us, O God, the true condition of our hearts, and help us to heal those parts that are broken. Overcome us with your truth and compassion and shine your Holy Light on our path as we go in and come out. In the name of your Christ, we pray. Amen.

Hello All! Happy Mother's Day!
A few days ago, I was talking with someone about God's mystery, and he mentioned the supposed name of God as "Yahweh." But God is also called, "Elohim," in the Bible and Moses was told in a vision that God is the, "I Am," or "I Am what I will be, or something like that. What I'm getting at is that God cannot be predicated, that is, named and remains a mystery, as does of much of the teachings and stories of Jesus. So come and join the conversation with us this morning and we'll take a deep dive together as we worship God in honor of Mother's Day.

Prayer for Peace: Holy God of Eternal Life, today, as those who worship you through the vision of Jesus the Christ, who you anointed with your Gospel of love, we pray with heavy hearts for peace in the world. Let it be, according to your own promise. Amen.

Today’s topic: To those who say that we are to understand the scriptures literally, I would say, “You are the reason the church is, and has, failed.” If any of you have spent any real time at all reading the scriptures critically, without the pre-conditions set upon most lay people by unenlightened teachers, you would have to admit they are impossible to take as any kind of scientific or factual history. The best of scripture is written in parables, poetry and metaphor that can only be understood through real commitment to one’s spiritual journey, accompanied by prayer and meditation. The gate of heaven is opened to those who love God with all their heart and their neighbors in the same way.
So lets look at today’s readings with hearts open to the true Mystery of God.

*Hymn:

Call to Worship – Psalm 66:8-12, 16-20
(To be fair to the Truth that gender of God transcends the
human body I have done my best to give female and male
identities of God their due.)
Leader: Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard,
People: who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip.
Leader: For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried
us as silver is tried.
People: You brought us into the net; you laid burdens on our backs;
Leader: you let people ride over our heads; we went
through fire and through water; yet you have
brought us out to a spacious place.
People: Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I
will tell you what he has done for me.
Leader: I cried aloud to her, and she was extolled with my tongue.
People: If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the
Lord would not have listened.
Leader: But truly God has listened; he has given heed to the words of my prayer.
All: Blessed be God, because she has not rejected my prayer or removed his stead-fast love for me.

Invocation
Holy Mystery, our, One True God, speak to our hearts this morning through the power of your Holy Spirit and let your Holy Light break through the fog of the clouds of mystery that surround your revelation, and open to us the meaning of the words of our scripture. Warm our hearts with the grace that comes with your truth and reward us with a vision to serve as food for our spiritual growth. Bring us into contact with your peace that passes all under-standing and encourage us in our journey. This we humbly pray in the name of the Christ. Amen.

*Gloria Patri
Glor-y to the cre-a-tor,
And to the Christ, and to the Ho-ly Ghost.
As it was in the be-gin-ing,
Is now and ev-er shall be.
World with-out end.
A-men. A-men.

Call to “Reflection” (this is basically, I think, what we should always reflect on when asking for healing.)
 What, today, is standing in the way of our recognition of God’s love for us all? What, in our lives, is fueling the estrangement that may exist between us and the Holy One? Do we even know what may be keeping us from communion with God? Do the spiritually blind know they are blind? Let us pray for clarity and forgiveness.

Prayer for Light
ALL: Speak to our hearts, O Holy Healer, and make our vision of you clearer so we may become whole again. Help us to be able to see our way through the clouds of your Holy Mystery, that we may follow only the sacred Light of your voice of love and truth. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Words of Assurance: (John 14:19-20)
ALL: “In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me; because I live, you also will live. On “this” day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” (the Christ)
Leader: In Christ, we are forgiven and already participate in eternal life.

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in Earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory for ever. Amen.
