WEEK TWO
“THE BLUEPRINT STILL WORKS!”
Biblical Roles in a Confused Generation
Main Text:
Ephesians 5:21–33
Key Verse:
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.”
— Ephesians 5:22, KJV
And:
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.”
— Ephesians 5:25, KJV
Divine Point
God’s design does not become outdated because society changes.

COGIC Introduction
We are living in a generation where the question is no longer simply:
“What does the Bible say?”
The question has become:
“Does the Bible still apply?”
And the answer of the Church is:
YES!
God’s Word does not expire because culture changes.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
— Matthew 24:35, KJV

POINT 1 — GOD GAVE THE HUSBAND A RESPONSIBILITY
Biblical headship is not domination.
It is sacrificial responsibility.
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church…”
— Ephesians 5:25, KJV
Christ didn’t abuse the Church.
Christ gave Himself for the Church.
Therefore, a godly man doesn’t ask:
“How can everybody serve me?”
He asks:
“How can I serve and protect what God has entrusted to me?”

POINT 2 — GOD GAVE THE WIFE A RESPONSIBILITY
Biblical submission is not permission for abuse, cruelty, or oppression.
It exists within the larger Biblical command for mutual submission and sacrificial love.
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
— Ephesians 5:21, KJV
The Biblical family requires both authority and accountability.

POINT 3 — CHILDREN NEED DIRECTION
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.”
— Ephesians 6:1, KJV
Children need boundaries.
Children need correction.
Children need affection.
Children need consistency.
Children need fathers and mothers who will tell them:
“I love you too much to let you destroy yourself.”

POINT 4 — FATHERS MUST NOT ABDICATE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
— Ephesians 6:4, KJV
There is a tremendous difference between being present in a house and being spiritually present in your children’s lives.
A father should help establish:
Prayer.
Discipline.
Character.
Work ethic.
Integrity.
Faith.
Responsibility.

POINT 5 — THE CHURCH MUST TEACH GOD’S BLUEPRINT
The Church should not apologize for teaching Biblical family.
We should teach it with conviction and compassion.
Because Biblical truth isn’t designed to destroy families.
It is designed to build them.

Restoring the Biblical Family in a Changing World

Series Theme

“When the foundation is strong, the family can withstand the storm; when the foundation is compromised, everything built upon it becomes vulnerable.”

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”

Series Declaration

The Biblical family is not merely a social arrangement; it is God’s institution. Therefore, the Church must not allow changing cultural definitions to become the standard by which God’s people understand family.

At the same time, this series should minister with truth and grace. We can uphold the Biblical pattern without treating people who come from broken, blended, single-parent, adoptive, or otherwise complicated families as though they are beyond God’s reach. The Gospel is able to restore what sin, circumstances, and human failure have damaged.

“GOD CREATED THE FAMILY!”

The Family Was God’s Idea Before It Became Man’s Institution

Main Text:
Genesis 2:18–24

Key Verse:

“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
— Genesis 2:18, KJV

Divine Point

If God created the family, then God has the authority to define the family.

COGIC Introduction

Church, before there was a government, there was a family.

Before there was a school, there was a family.

Before there was a corporation, there was a family.

Before there was a nation, there was a family.

God established the family in the Garden of Eden!

The family was not man’s invention.

It was not created by Washington.

It was not created by the courts.

It was not created by modern culture.

The family was God’s idea!

Genesis gives us God’s original pattern: God created man, God created woman, and God established marriage and family.

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
— Genesis 2:24, KJV

POINT 1 — GOD ESTABLISHED THE FAMILY

Genesis 2:18–24

God did not accidentally create family.

He intentionally established it.

The family begins with God’s creative purpose.

Divine Point:

What God establishes, man should not casually redefine.

POINT 2 — MARRIAGE IS PART OF GOD’S DESIGN

Marriage in Scripture is a covenant—not merely a contract.

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
— Proverbs 18:22, KJV

Marriage carries spiritual responsibility.

The husband has responsibility.

The wife has responsibility.

Parents have responsibility.

Children have responsibility.

Biblical family is built upon covenant, commitment, sacrifice, and responsibility.

POINT 3 — CHILDREN ARE A BLESSING

“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
— Psalm 127:3, KJV

Children aren’t merely additions to a household.

They are entrusted to parents for training, instruction, correction, protection, and spiritual development.

POINT 4 — GOD GAVE THE FAMILY A SPIRITUAL ASSIGNMENT

“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children…”
— Deuteronomy 6:6–7, KJV

The home is supposed to be a first classroom of faith.

Before children learn about God at church, they should encounter God at home.

POINT 5 — THE CHURCH MUST HELP RESTORE THE FAMILY

The Church cannot simply complain about the condition of the family.

The Church must minister to families.

We need:

• Marriage ministry
• Men’s ministry
• Women’s ministry
• Parenting ministry
• Youth ministry
• Family prayer
• Biblical counseling
• Intergenerational discipleship

Celebration Point

The family may be under attack, but the family is not without hope!

God can restore marriages.

God can restore relationships.

God can heal wounded children.

God can bring prodigals home.

God can rebuild broken homes.

“But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Divine Point Sermon Series For the month of September 2026 is, Preparation!
September 30, 2026
Divine Point for WEEK FOUR — “PREPARE FOR THE PROMISE!”
Text: Isaiah 40:3
“Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Theme:
God’s promise deserves prepared people.
Introduction
There are seasons when God says, in essence:
“Get ready!”
The children of Israel had to prepare for their journey.
Noah had to prepare for the flood.
Joseph had to prepare for famine.
David had to prepare for his assignment.
The disciples had to prepare for Pentecost.
And the Church must prepare for the coming of the Lord.
Three Points
1. Prepare With Expectation
Don’t prepare for defeat when God has spoken victory.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” — Proverbs 23:7
2. Prepare With Faith
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1
Faith prepares for what the eyes cannot yet see.
Noah built before the rain came!
3. Prepare With Urgency
“Therefore be ye also ready…” — Matthew 24:44
There is a preparation that cannot be postponed.
We must be ready for the coming of the Lord.
