Why So Much Interest in Magic?
A Masters in the Occult-
Part 2-
Yesterday we learned there’s a university in the UK offering a masters degree in magic and the occult because of how quickly the occult is growing. But why is this?
Well, today’s generation is very secularized and atheistic, but they’re still made in God’s image. And even if they deny it with their mouths, they know they aren’t just a physical body or an animal. God has put eternity in their hearts so they long for something outside themselves. And, like all of us, their hearts are sick and deceived and they’ll turn to anything other than submit to God’s authority.
So what’s the answer? The same as it’s always been: the answer is the gospel!

A Degree in Magic?
A Masters in the Occult
Part 1-
In my presentations, I often share the statistic that Generation Z is twice as likely as previous generations to call themselves atheists. Now many in Generation Z might be atheists, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t religious—just most don’t want to believe in the biblical God. Instead they’ll turn to almost anything else for meaning and purpose.
Consider that a university in the UK is now offering a master’s degree in magic and the occult. Why? Well, because there’s been a huge growth in the occult in recent years as young people seek to fill the spiritual void in their lives. And this confirms biblical truth—but that’s for tomorrow.

JOURNEY OF FAITH
INHERIT EVERY PROMISE
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete,
not lacking anything.
James 1:2-4 NIV
Joy in trials? James reminds us that perseverance or patience are fruit born of life’s testing. As we rest in God’s Word and Presence something is working within us for our good. The old-time holiness folks called it “living by faith.” They didn’t run to the doctor for every little pain or symptom- they ran to God- Jehovah-Rapha (Healer). They didn’t run to the bank for every financial problem- they ran to God – Jehovah Jireh (Provider). In other words, they waited upon the Lord faith in His Word.
What is bothering you today? Let’s bring it to Jesus. He is ever “Faithful” to His Word. His promises are our inheritance.
Patience is the companion of wisdom.

THE WISE MAN BUILT HIS HOUSE- UPON A ROCK
‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Matthew 7:24 & 25 NIVUK
What principles or view points to you build your life upon? Jesus taught that the Wise Man was one who heard the Word of God and acted upon that word. So, when troubles (storms, rain, and wind) came, his house would stand firm, for it was built upon a rock.
Do you ask God for His guidance when making decisions? If it has not been a practice of yours, it is never to late to change! You can begin today- making you a Wise Man or Woman! Hear God’s Word and Obey and Your house (what you do in life) will stand firm.
As we trust God to give us wisdom for today's decisions, He will lead us a step at a time into what He wants us to be doing in the future.

THINGS UNDONE
TO DO OR NOT TO DO?
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and
Reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God

Facing the end of another trip around the sun… a New Year begins in just 4 days. What is left undone in 2016? Did you fulfill all your resolutions from last January 1st? Is your “To Do List” got all the items crossed off- finished? You are a better a person than most of us if you answered yes! 
My wife Zee and I reared 4 children, who are not adults with their own children. Challenges face families in the arena of child rearing. Today modern philosophy gives a total different look at life than when most of us were coming along. Let me short list a few of the “To Do” things in my life and see if you can identify?
1. I was to listen and obey my mother and father. Sooner rather than later when I felt like it! 
2. I was to treat my brothers and sister with respect and being the oldest, protect them from any danger.
3. I was expected to be with my family at all family functions:
a. Supper followed by evening prayer
b. Attending all worship services at our local church.
c. Bed-time was expected at a given time.
4. I was to do my best at anything and everything…. Conduct, grades, and attitude all mattered!
Do you see a trend in the above? The “To Do” list was all about the importance of relationships.
The “Not To Do” list was important as well:
1. Never LIE!
2. Never STEAL!
3. Never disrespect an adult.
4. Never say “CAN’T – for can’t never did do anything (Quote from my father)!
5. Never use the Lord’s Name in vain, nor say any curse/profane words; My Father would say: “After all, that is why you are going to school- to learn how to talk!”
Do you notice a trend? Yes, my folks reared us in light of living a wholesome, giving, productive life. But #1 was? Relationship! Relationship with God and with each other and with our neighbors!
Regarding your list for 2016… Be like Paul, “this ONE THING I do…..”
PRAYER:
Father God, I am watching the sun You created rise in glorious gold this morning. The Light overpowers the clouds and darkness of night. Thank You for reminding me that Your Light overcomes all darkness and clouds in my life today… in Jesus Name, Amen!
