Tonight at our Shabbat services, we will welcome 6 new Jews into our community. We are so proud of these wonderful human beings who have chosen to be a part of the Jewish community. May they continue to study and grow and contribute to the larger Jewish community by making a difference in our broken world.

Chanukah begins Thursday night, December 7. We light the first candle with Jews all over the world and pray for peace.

We are holding her family in our hearts at this very difficult time.

Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of Annie Richardson. Not only was she one of the most talented artists in Northeast Louisiana, she was a kind, brilliant, thoughtful and beautiful person. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those mourning her loss.

I visited the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience this weekend. It was fabulous. If you get to New Orleans...it is a must see. You can read about each congregation in the South, see lots of the history of Southern Jewish Congregations and families and there are several interactive exhibits too. ( I included a photo of the quilt square I made while there in the comments). Notice the theater there is dedicated to one of our families in Monroe and they have a replica of our stained glass Moses hanging with other stained glass offerings. I also was surprised to see something from the congregation in Northern Virginia where I sang for the High Holy Days for 16 years! I worked with Rabbi Perlin there and sang at their very first High Holy Days in 1986 right after they formed.
