Later this afternoon and tomorrow, men from both seminaries of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will be receiving their assignments for Vicarage and Divine Calls into the Office of the Holy Ministry.

Let us keep these men and their families in our prayers as they prepare to head out in service of the Good Shepherd and His Church.
Let us pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest.

The Great Easter Vigil is tonight at 6:30 PM
We begin at the entrance of the Church, in front of the half-wall. After the Paschal Candle is blessed, worshipers process with candles into the darkened church for the Great Thanksgiving. After a series of readings detailing the prophecies of the Messiah, we conclude by hearing the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace. The Mystery of Baptism is central to the meaning of the Great Vigil. Then the Litany of the Resurrection is prayed, followed by the reading of St. John's account of the Resurrection of Jesus. "Christ is Risen!" exclaims the pastor, and the congregation responds, "He is risen indeed! Alleluia!"

Join us as the sacred Triduum - the holy three days of Christ's Passion is completed and the darkness of sin and death is put to flight in the light of Christ's resurrection!

On Good Friday, we go with our Lord to dark Gethsemane, follow Him to the Judgement Hall, and take Calvary's mournful mountain climb. "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows...All we, like sheep, have gone astray. We have turned, everyone, to his own way. And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53

Thousand, thousand thanks shall be! Dearest Jesus, unto Thee!

Holy Thursday, often called "Maundy Thursday" begins the celebration of the Triduum (Trid-you-um), the holy three days of Christ's Passover - His passion, death, and resurrection. At this service we hear how our Lord fulfills the Passover of old as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. We also hear "new commands" that Christ gives, that we love one another and that we, Christians, "Take eat" and "Take drink" of Christ's body and blood, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins.

Service times are below.

This Sunday, the Church enters Holy Week. All that Christ does throughout His last days form the foundation of our faith. If you are looking for a Church or if it's been awhile, join us this Holy Week as we walk with Jesus to His Cross and then to the empty tomb on Easter morning. Hear Christ crucified and risen for you!

Lutheran Service Book 421

1 Jesus, grant that balm and healing
In Your holy wounds I find,
Ev'ry hour that I am feeling
Pains of body and of mind.
Should some evil thought within
Tempt my treach'rous heart to sin,
Show the peril, and from sinning
Keep me from its first beginning.

2 Should some lust or sharp temptation
Fascinate my sinful mind,
Draw me to Your cross and passion,
And new courage I shall find.
Or should Satan press me hard,
Let me then be on my guard,
Saying, "Christ for me was wounded,"
That the tempter flee confounded.

3 If the world my heart entices
With the broad and easy road,
With seductive, sinful vices,
Let me weigh the awful load
You were willing to endure.
Help me flee all thoughts impure
And to master each temptation,
Calm in prayer and meditation.

4 Ev'ry wound that pains or grieves me
By Your wounds, Lord, is made whole;
When I'm faint, Your cross revives me,
Granting new life to my soul.
Yes, Your comfort renders sweet
Ev'ry bitter cup I meet;
For Your all-atoning passion
Has procured my soul's salvation.

5 O my God, my rock and tower,
Grant that in Your death I trust,
Knowing death has lost its power
Since You crushed it in the dust.
Savior, let Your agony
Ever help and comfort me;
When I die be my protection,
Light and life and resurrection.
