Peace Valley Lutheran Church

Peace Valley Lutheran Church We are a Church Plant of the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) We proclaim Christ and Him crucified - for you.

We are a Lutheran congregation that proclaims the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. We preach the Gospel. We teach the Gospel. We sing the Gospel and we live it out in our lives. You will hear God’s Word read and preached in our services. You will hear this Gospel sung through the order of service and the hymns we sing in our hymnal.

In addition to the earlier collect for fathers, you are also invited to pray for the Synod presidential election, especially for the electors, who are preparing for the third round of voting.

In place of a collect, consider praying and meditating on the following verses:

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! (Psalm 115:1)

The Pharisees and Scribes scoffed that Jesus "receives sinners and eats with them" (Luke 15:1). Thanks be to God that He does! He seeks that which is lost - like a lost sheep, a lost coin, a lost son - YOU! For He came into this world to save sinners! Hear Christ for you here at Peace Valley Lutheran Church this Sunday - June 21st.

"Here is hope for all who grieve: Jesus sinners doth receive." (LSB 609)

This is the 1st installment of Words From Pastor's Study! Today, we look at the Gospel reading for this coming Sunday from Luke 15 where we hear Christ tell the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, & the lost (prodigal) son. What joy to know that "This Man [Jesus] receives sinners and eats with them!" (Luke 15:1)

Words From Pastor's Study will be over here in the future and at an earlier time - 11:00AM

The Peace of Christ be with you always!

Later this afternoon and tomorrow, men from both seminaries of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will be receiving their assignments for Vicarage and Divine Calls into the Office of the Holy Ministry.

Let us keep these men and their families in our prayers as they prepare to head out in service of the Good Shepherd and His Church.
Let us pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest.

The Great Easter Vigil is tonight at 6:30 PM
We begin at the entrance of the Church, in front of the half-wall. After the Paschal Candle is blessed, worshipers process with candles into the darkened church for the Great Thanksgiving. After a series of readings detailing the prophecies of the Messiah, we conclude by hearing the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace. The Mystery of Baptism is central to the meaning of the Great Vigil. Then the Litany of the Resurrection is prayed, followed by the reading of St. John's account of the Resurrection of Jesus. "Christ is Risen!" exclaims the pastor, and the congregation responds, "He is risen indeed! Alleluia!"

Join us as the sacred Triduum - the holy three days of Christ's Passion is completed and the darkness of sin and death is put to flight in the light of Christ's resurrection!

On Good Friday, we go with our Lord to dark Gethsemane, follow Him to the Judgement Hall, and take Calvary's mournful mountain climb. "Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows...All we, like sheep, have gone astray. We have turned, everyone, to his own way. And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53

Thousand, thousand thanks shall be! Dearest Jesus, unto Thee!
