*CALL FOR PASTORAL CANDIDATES*
The St. Matthew Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Monroe, LA is currently accepting applications for the position of PASTOR. St. Matthew COCHUSA has a membership of approximately 120 people. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, worship services operate both in-person and online. Sunday School and Bible Study are conducted virtually. The Women’s Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry are also active; other ministries have been scaled back or placed on pause during the pandemic. The new pastor will have the unique challenge of leading the church through a post-pandemic transition to purposeful, mission-driven activity.
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE
The candidate must be a minister who is called by God to pastoral work and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. The candidate should have a proven history of evangelism and discipleship. Moreover, the candidate should be creative, able to communicate well with people of all ages, and possess good administrative skills. Preferably, the candidate will have prior pastoral experience and some seminary training. The candidate should also be an ordained elder of the Church of Christ (Holiness) USA (COCHUSA) or willing to become an ordained elder in COCHUSA.
The Church of Christ (Holiness) USA is an episcopal body with a national board of bishops, regional bishops, and district chairmen who provide oversight at their respective levels of the national church. The pastor is expected to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the various leadership levels of the church and submit to the ecclesiastical authority of his presiding bishop.
DUTIES OF THE PASTOR
The primary duties of the pastor are:
1—To preach and to teach the Word of God.
2—To seek the conversion of sinners, discipleship, and the sanctification of believers.
3—To baptize and to administer the Lord’s Supper.
4—To give special care to the sick, to comfort the dying, to console the sorrowing, and other related duties.
5—To be responsible for all departments, auxiliaries and committees of the local church and its work.
6—To seek God for His vision and direction for the church and lead the church to live out God’s mission for the church.
LOCATION
St. Matthew COCHUSA is located in the city of Monroe, LA. Monroe is the largest city in Ouachita Parish with a population of about 47,700 people. Monroe is the home of the University of Louisiana at Monroe as well as the Louisiana Delta Community College.
