Today, NELBA hosted Dr. Steve Horn, Executive Director of the Louisiana Baptist Convention, at the associational office building. We are one of his many stops on his “Listening Tour” throughout the state in 2026. Our primary topic of discussion was the importance of the Cooperative Program in our collective work. We also had interaction related to the new insurance program for churches that should be made available later this year. It was a great attendance with good interaction and fellowship!

The Louisiana Baptist Convention has established their Disaster Relief Headquarters at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe. Teams from around the state will stay overnight at the church and fulfill tree removal jobs across Ouachita Parish and the surrounding area.

Similar work will be done by Samaritan’s Purse, which is being housed at Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe.

Another Disaster Relief group, The Minutemen, are being housed at First Baptist, West Monroe.

It is a blessing to have so many ministry partners converging on our area to help us recover from the recent ice storm.

01/26/2026

If your church has any significant damage from the storm that requires outside assistance, please let our offfice know so that we can assist with linking you with other ministry partners that can be of help.

This was just released from the Louisiana Baptist Convention.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel ECON ’26 scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, January 26-27, at First Baptist Church, Lafayette, due to the forecasted weather. While Lafayette and South Louisiana may not be affected much, ECON is a statewide event. Those coming from Central and North Louisiana are likely to face significant travel impacts. In addition, many of our speakers, musicians, and presenters are facing difficult travel. Furthermore, our Disaster Relief teams are standing by to provide assistance to those affected by power outages.

We are incredibly thankful for the staff and members of First Baptist Church, Lafayette, who have been wonderful partners in preparing for ECON ’26. We are disappointed in our inability to gather this year, but we look forward to sharing details about ECON ’27.

Until then, keep sharing Jesus!

Our first unified Executive Board meeting of the Northeast Louisiana Baptist Association was held today at First Baptist Church in Bastrop. On January 1, our two associations formally became one. It was a positive time of food, fellowship, and discussion about our collective work for God’s Kingdom in Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes.
