First Lutheran Monmouth

First Lutheran Monmouth Service Sunday at 10 am. After more than one and one-half centuries of existence, that desire still continues today.

We happily welcome people of all backgrounds as well as people who are new to Lutheranism - or even new to Christianity and the Church itself. First Lutheran Church was organized in 1868 by Swedish immigrants to this part of western Illinois, who desired a faithful ministry of Word and Sacrament in their new homeland. With roots in the old Augustana Synod, and historic ties to both Augustana Colle

ge and Augustana Seminary, our congregation is now part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran church body in the United States. First Lutheran likes to boast that it is Warren County’s largest Lutheran congregation . . . of course, it's also the only Lutheran congregation in Warren County. For this reason, and to serve the nearby Monmouth College community, we happily welcome Lutherans of all backgrounds as well as people who are new to Lutheranism - or even new to Christianity and the Church itself.

I had my kids Nathaniel and Trace helping clean up the parking lot. Plus friends who are neighbors, Robert Blackford and his daughter Evelyn. It didnt take long but we got this all piled up and cleaned up.

Thank you also to Trace and Nathaniel who helped get the glass in the basement cleaned up so we could be a Red Cross shelter. We did have 2 families at the church today and the Red Cross has found overnight shelter for them.

I hope you all are being safe and your storm clean up is going well.

Hey friends, we really got a massive storm this morning. Power is out at church and all of town. Major tree damage all around town.

Please do avoid coming to the church and especially avoid our fellowship hall. We had a window in the basement that was damaged from wind and glass is everywhere. We will clean that up once power is restored. (See picture below)

Also there is tree damage in the parking lot that is not blocking the entrance or exit. But will need to be cleaned up.

Please call me, my cell number is on our newsletters and bulletins. Please call me if you need assistance with cleaning up from the storms today we will do what we can to help out.

Stay safe, friends!
