Dear Parishioners

Below you will see a video as well as an article (which is also being sent out in the newsletter). These all contain the same information .

This June I celebrate 5 beautiful years as your pastor! Through various events that are going on, as well as my own prayer and listening to parishioners, the Holy Spirit is calling us to examine who we are as a community and chart a vision moving forward. The reason for this is that our time, energy, and resources are limited and I want to spend them on the most urgent and important things.

Below is an outline, as far as I can tell, of our timeline...

Now: Elicit suggestions for merged parish name + Collect parishioner feedback on what you love about our Catholic community

June/July: Every adult member of our parishes votes on the name of the merged parish (via paper ballots or online). Begin to identify top priorities for communities (ICC, St. Patrick, ICS) in areas of evangelization, building, finance, etc.

August 22/23: St. Patrick's 150th Anniversary

September (or later): New parish is merged (i.e. ICC & St. Patrick's parishes , or geographic territories, are merged, but the churches remain distinct and keep their names)

September-December: Finance councils, parish council, education commission, and other representative bodies explore strategic planning options .

If this seems like a lot, please just focus on the next steps of responding to my questions in the form below (you can respond online, via email, or by dropping a note in the basket).

Memorial Day Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery 🇺🇸🙏

Monday, May 25th at 9 am
Weather permitting. If it’s raining, Mass will be in church at
9 am. Gather in the center of the cemetery near the altar,
bring your lawn chairs.

Find a Grave 🔎
Helpers will be at Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Sunday May
24th 12 noon-3pm and Monday May 25th 10 am-2 pm
to help you find the graves of your loved ones with our new database.

New ICS Principal

Dear Parishioners,

We conducted a thorough search for our next ICS Principal and we are happy to announce that Mrs. Breanna Todd has accepted the job!

She will begin as principal of Immaculate Conception School on July 1 st . Mrs. Todd came to ICS in 2021 from United CUSD. In the course of her time here she was moved by the Holy Spirit to join the Catholic Church. She also stepped forward to obtain her administrative certification in order to serve our school. Bre is faithful, dependable, professional, and fun. Together with our staff and community s he will build on the amazing work that Randy Frakes has accomplished.

When I informed Bre that we needed to go through the necessary process of a principal search, she simply stated, "I understand. I don't expect anything to be handed to me." She has earned this position through hard work and through gaining the confidence of her colleagues, our school families, and those of us who lead the parish.

Through the process we have learned what we need to focus on in this next phase of ICS's long and storied history. We will build on the joyful, Christ-centered culture of ICS and continue to grow student enrollment, spiritual formation opportunities for families, curriculum development, teacher recruitment, and fundraising.
Remember that these are not just Bre's jobs, but our job.
Everyone sacrifices and works hard for our school, and it is an immense pleasure to do so!

Please pray for Bre and her family . And please continue to s pread the word about our open teaching positions at ICS , directing qualified applicants to Fr. Tim, Mr. Frakes, or Mrs. Todd. We are also accepting new students in Kindergarten and up. Interested families can apply here or speak to a representative from the school.

As always, please reach out to me if you have questions or thoughts about ICS school. We continue our Novena to the Holy Spirit for the following intentions: For each baptized member of our parishes to be filled with the Holy Spirit and live out their personal apostolate. For the right people to fill the teacher roles at ICS. For a successful completion of the renovation of St. Patrick's Church and for all involved in the project. For our Kermes Hispanic food fundraiser and all parishioners involved. For peace for those in our community passing through transition or loss. For all of us to be more intimately united to the Heart of Jesus and to each other.
