Message from Father Mike:
My dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

We are in an unprecedented time in our lives dealing with a worldwide pandemic and taking extraordinary actions to lessen the impact of the new CoronaVirus.

Let us draw courage during this Lenten Season from the example that Jesus Christ set on his journey to Jerusalem and to his Cross. He referred to his impending death as "a time to be glorified" because he had faith in the heavenly Father to bring him to a new and glorified heavenly existence. Thus, even though he prayed "for this cup to pass him by", he sought not his will, but the will of the Father as he continued to announce the Good News of salvation and then bravely embraced The Cross. But The Cross was not then end, on the third day, he rose from the dead showing the faithfulness of the Father. He was not abandoned, but glorified.

Let us have that same faith and hope which will give us the kind of peace the world cannot give: a peace within our hearts and souls even in the face of a crisis. Let that faith inspire us to help one another as best we can and to act when we can with purpose and with all charity.

As many of you have already heard by now, our bishop has suspended all Masses in our diocese (with the exception of small weddings and funerals) until at least April 3rd. It is likely that this period of suspension of Masses will be extended. Attached to this email is an abbreviated parish bulletin with more information and a list of cancellations.

Let us continue to pray for healing and peace, and the courage and faith of Christ in the face of this crisis.

Peace in Christ, -Fr. Mike
