This week in PLOT TWIST, we explored the Parable of the Sower.

The seed was the same.
The sower was the same.

The difference was the soil.

Jesus reminds us that it's not just about hearing God's Word. It's about how we receive it.

Distractions, hardship, comfort, and competing priorities can all keep truth from taking root. But when our hearts are open and receptive, God's Word produces a harvest far beyond what we could imagine.

The condition of our heart shapes our response to Jesus.

So the question isn't, "Did I hear it?"

The question is, "What kind of soil am I becoming?"

Every story has a twist.

In this series, we’re walking through some of the most famous parables Jesus ever told — stories about lost sheep, hidden light, unexpected neighbors, buried talents, extravagant banquets, and more.

But these weren’t just simple illustrations.

They were confrontational.
Disruptive.
Kingdom-revealing.

Jesus used ordinary stories to expose hearts, challenge assumptions, and completely flip expectations upside down.

PLOT TWIST is a cinematic journey through the parables of Jesus — exploring the deeper truths hidden beneath familiar stories and discovering how they still challenge us today.

Because sometimes the story you think you understand…
isn’t the story at all.

Some nights feel different before they even begin.

Wednesday, June 10 is going to be one of those nights.

We’re gathering for a special Night of Worship, Lord’s Supper, and Baptism Night, and we’d love for you to be in the room.

No pressure. No perfect people.
Just a church family coming together to remember what Jesus has done, celebrate life change, and make space for God to move.

If you’ve been needing a reset…
If your soul’s felt tired…
If you’ve been carrying a lot lately…

Come spend an evening with us.

We’ll worship together, share in communion, and celebrate baptisms as people publicly declare their faith and new life in Christ.

Not everything keeping you from God is bad.

Sometimes it’s just something you’ve slowly started loving more.

Whatever you put ahead of God will eventually keep you from God.

The Fuller Center for Housing is working through partnerships to provide safe, adequate housing for people in need around the world.

And we get to be part of that mission right here in Monett.

Let’s be a church that doesn’t just talk about being FOR our community, let’s put it into action.

So many people feel like their life is too messy for God.

The lies.
The addiction.
The hookups.
The shame.
The alcohol.
The secrets.

And somewhere along the way, they start believing:
“There’s no way God would want someone like me at His table.”

But that’s not what Jesus said.

What the world says…

Invite the successful.
The powerful.
The wealthy.
The polished.
The religious.

That’s who deserves a seat at the table.

But Jesus tells a different story.

“Go out quickly into the streets and alleys…”

Invite the poor.
The crippled.
The blind.
The broken.
The outcast.

And honestly?
That’s the plot twist.

Because the people who thought they belonged often missed the invitation… while the people who never imagined they’d be welcome were brought to the table.

You.
Me.
Everyone.

Jesus didn’t come for the worthy.
He came for the willing.

The invitation is still open.
There’s still room at the table.

Don’t just scroll past the conversation.

Take a minute. Think about it. Talk about it with somebody.

Jesus didn’t tell parables just to entertain people. He told stories that exposed hearts, challenged assumptions, and made people wrestle with truth.

So here are 3 questions from this week’s message to help keep the conversation going.

Drop a thought in the comments or talk through them with somebody this week. 👇

Week 2 of Plot Twist was one for the books.

From powerful worship to a challenging message on The Great Banquet, we were reminded that God’s invitation is open and there’s still room at the table. So many people took steps toward Him this weekend and the energy in the room was incredible.

MCC Kids was full of life all morning long with games, laughter, worship, and kids learning about Jesus in a way they can actually understand and enjoy. We love seeing the next generation excited to be at church.

We’re grateful for every person who walked through the doors this weekend. Already excited for Week 3.
