4/20/2026: The George Lynes memorial (headstone) has been remade, and the old one was inset into the new one. An exact copy of the original is on the back side. It is on the way to its original place. We will have a ceremony to "rededicate" this new monument when all is ready. Here are some photos of the stone "in process."

The Powder Magazine and the The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon are teaming up to showcase Charleston's pirate history on Saturday, June 1st, with a PIRATE ENCAMPMENT, ARREST, and TRIAL! Join us to learn more about the impact piracy had on early Carolina and upon Charleston in particular.

The fun begins at 10:00AM at the Powder Magazine Museum where sea rovers from the Charles Revenge and the Charles Towne Few will make camp in the front cannon yard. They will demonstrate nautical crafts in a living history program! Around 3:00PM, Redcoats will arrest the pirate crews and march them to the Old Exchange Building where they will stand trial for piracy on the high seas. Help decide their fate in an interactive mock trial at the Old Exchange Building at 3:30PM!
