God called for the people of Judah to return to Him, in one final appeal, before the 400 years of silence, and the incarnation of Jesus Christ... And the response to Him? "Wherein shall we return?" Why would we need to return? In what way have we left?

"I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand... my name shall be great among the Gentiles."

What a sad book, yes, but also, what a picture and reminder of God's grace and goodness. Even within judgement, there is grace. When God promised to come to judge wicked Judah in chapter 3, unbeknownst to them, that is also the promise of a Saviour who would make a way of salvation for all, through His atoning death.

Can Esther be a book of the Bible if it NEVER talks about God?

If the Old Testament scriptures "testify of Jesus" (John 5:39) and "all scriptures" are about Christ (Luke 24:27), how is there a book that never mentions the Messiah or promises His work?

What do we learn about the work of God, when we are not told where His hand is?

-What sin does God refer to when He calls the Hebrew people of both the North and South Kingdoms adulterous women?
-When God calls them to recognize their adultery, is He just trying to make them feel bad?

We will be hosting the Memorial Service for Mrs. Amanda Parker at 1p on Saturday, April 25th. Please consider joining us at 211 S Doris Ave to support the Parker family.

We are also gathering donations for the Memorial fund until Sunday the 26th, if you would like to contribute.

There will be a simple refreshments area provided for any who would like to spend time together after the service.

God drew Israel to Himself with Bands of Love, but they would not return...

Hosea is tasked with representing the unfaithfulness of the Hebrew nations by marrying a wife whom he KNEW would not be faithful. Yet, even when Israel is unfaithful, God promises to provide a way to ransom from the power of the grave and redeem from death. "O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction..."

In the land of Judea, the same place that God says they are NOT His people, Christ is promised to come to and declare His people to be "Sons of God".
